Ratchet and Clank will sell very well as there is little serious competition in the PS3 lineup against it.

Christmas+price-cut+40GB SKU+£1million ad campaign=Some very good sales.
Lifetime Sales by Region
NA-700-800k
JPN-100-200k
EU/PAL-500-600k
WW-1.3million-1.6million
Thats respectable sales. They also take into account what last R&C games have sold and the userbase.
End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)
PlayStation 4: 12-15million
Xbox One: 7-10 million
Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)
My evidence is an Insomniac employee stating very clearly that the PS2 Ratchet and Clank games sold over 13 million copies combined. Even if he's including copies still on the shelves (i.e.; shipped instead of sold), VG Chartz' numbers just don't add up.
You've got 7.5 million listed between the first three games and there are only Japanese numbers available here for the fourth PS2 game. If we watch the downward trend of the existing figures and factor in how much worse the fourth game was compared to the first three we can be generous and say that Deadlocked would be listed at 2 million here on VG Chartz, leaving us at 9.5 million to Insomniac's 13 million. A difference of 3.5 million seems pretty substantial to me.
Edit: Looking back at my post, it seems I exaggerated a bit by claiming "upwards of 1 million per title"... the figures seem to be off by an average of 875k per title.
Fans kinda lost their liking for R&C because it was all shooting. Since this game goes back to the original style of gameplay the old fans might be more interested in buying it. I think 1.4 - 1.8 million with a bit of a chance to hit 2 million within the next few years.
oh btw this is the first R&C game I have ever played so it will gain new fans.

Lol, that's the EXACT OPPOSITE for me, lol. I loved "up your arsenal". It was a step in the right direction in my opinion. Shooter first, platformer second... distant second. The beginning of RC3 sets the tone with a barrage of enemies that seems almost overwhelming at times... I thought the game rocked plus the co-op was a first in the series and was local 2-player mayhem. If people really love platformers again, then heck, maybe it will sell 2 million but I just don't see it.
Keep in mind that basing this iteration of RC on past sales is not good math. Games are 10 bucks more now and the install base is a lot smaller.

its alos a month before the holiday sales come in. PS3 owners will be getting games that have been released within the last your that they havent or failed to look at. Same with every other console, handheld, and PC.

250 000 first 10 days .
For end of the year some 700K .
it is strange that this series hasnt sold more, they are all very fun. you would think with 100m people owning a ps2, more people would fall in love with the furry guy at first sight. i mean really what kind of people bought a ps2? kids? adults? thats what this game is marketed for.
I don't think it will sell like hotcakes right at first. I see it as being more of a long winded steady seller. I think with the holiday season, you'll see "nice" sales till the end of the year. I think it's a great game, but Playstation fans don't seem to be into the "cartoonish" games as much as others. It's the "realistic" RPG's and Action titles they want.
Well, I now only have access to a PS3 & 360...Plan on buying a wii soon (lol, if I can ever find one available!) but will probably wait until some of the major RPG's come out like Dragon Quest & Tales, etc.
Anyhow, I'm so far behind in games to play that I'm not in a huge hurry (lol, haven't even gotten a chance to finish God of War II yet!)

I thought it was a stupid kids game until someone practically forced me to play the first game. I ended up buying the second and third ASAP after that. Great action, decent platforming, great writing and great humor.
