Forums - Gaming - EA wants 'open gaming platform'

@dazmando
Imagine a console with exclusive FIFA, Madden, MOH, Sims, SSX, etc, etc. TERRIFYING!!!

if they want only one console why dont they just choose one and go exclusive?

Stupid idea. Would lead to a stagnation in sales of games. Where would the benchmark be. What would the spec for games be? the whole reason the Pc market is in declien is because when you buy a game it needs installing and isnt guaranteed to work and 90% of the time doesn't look anything like the pictures on the box. The reason the PC survives is because it is soooo easy to develop for compared to 360 and PS3. The day consoles do not exist and games are downloads without boxes will be a sad one!

chose a console and make that the one, that would work I think, Scary

EA wants one platform. Microsoft wants to be the owner of the living room just like they own the PC world. VP leaves Microsoft and goes to EA. Coincidence?

I'm kidding... seriously kidding...

But Everyone wants the same damn thing. They want to be the only one. Sony wants it. Nintendo wants it. And so on... This is just a dumb statement because it shows their true colors loud and clear.

I hate trolls.

Systems I currently own:  360, PS3, Wii, DS Lite (2)
Systems I've owned: PS2, PS1, Dreamcast, Saturn, 3DO, Genesis, Gamecube, N64, SNES, NES, GBA, GB, C64, Amiga, Atari 2600 and 5200, Sega Game Gear, Vectrex, Intellivision, Pong.  Yes, Pong.

I actually have never understood why with all their IP's EA doesn't just launch a console. Madden, FIFA, Need For Speed all EXCLUSIVES... Ok I don't really like anyn of those but no one can deny their selling power!

I'm sure most console makers so far have fully intended to make the one console everyone would develop for... it's just that all the other producers keep wanting a piece of the action as well.

Microsoft should just make a deal with EA already and have all their games just on the 360.  EA already bought two companies in the last month, whats to stop them from just buying all the rest of the small guys and teaming up with MS to end the console wars for good.

What developer doesn't want that? It takes away nearly all of their risk since they don't have to make exclusive games... also it hurts smaller development companys who are their competitors because people like Sony and Microsoft won't fund them for exclusive games, since there would be no such thing as an exclusive game.

It's the best case for a development company that huge.

I can't imagine what is worse, only 1 console, or an EA console.

I gaurentee that having only one console wouldn't stop EA games from being glitchy.

I love how this concept flies in the face of the entertainment and gaming industry. We are playing games on our phones, ipod, watches and anything else that moves and they want those games to be the same as the one I play on my HDTV in my recliner. Yeah right.

Let the crapfest begin.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel dirty whenever they give money to EA.

Final* Word on Game Delays:

The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.

Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.

Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
