Unfortunately for me, I had my copy of the Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 Prestige edition reserved at a GameCrazy that is closing in October.

All the GameStops are sold out of the pre-orders for Prestige Editions in my entire city.  I am now considering my options.  There really isn't any other location I can think of in my city that would be able to guarantee I could get it at midnight or even guarantee that they would have enough Prestige Editions for all who pre-ordered it.  I have Blockbuster and Best Buy as my best bets now, but after calling Best Buy it sounds like they won't have a midnight launch.  I really don't HAVE to get it at midnight, but at the very least I want to be guaranteed that I can get a Prestige Edition on launch day.

So what should I do?  I also have the last resort of Wal-Mart but they rarely have things available at midnight and even when they do, they will probably only have like 1 or 2 copies of the prestige edition....

If I pre-order online via Amazon, would I get it a day early (11/09/09) or the day of at least?  The only thing is I don't want to pay extra just to have it shipped....

What do you guys think?  I really don't want any other version because I'm a videogame item collector whore and really love my CoD (Halo 3 ODST LE, Fable 2 LE, Gears 1 and 2 LE, Halo 3 Legendary Edition, etc.).  Should I try Blockbuster or just hope I can nab one at Walmart?

This is encouraging, although, ODST Collectors was barely more than a normal collectors edition.  Do you know how many copies of the Halo 3 legendary edition your walmart had for release, because that is about what this cod version is?

amazon has the release date guarantee. Its not on the website now but a big game like that it's almost guaranteed. They say that it will be there by 7 oclock at nite but I have always gotten my games before noon.

another thing about amazon is they usually sell the games cheaper to offset the shipping cost. and if you are a amazon prime customer, 2 day shipping is free. I got NBA 2k10 for 7 dollars cheaper, same with uncharted 2

games dont sell at walmart. The cool thing to do is go to ebgames. walmart wont get many though, so if you're going to rely on it, you better be at the door when it opens. Halo is a whole new beast all together. there were a couple copies of legendary around but they went fast. ODST was a massive overshipment pretty much around the globe for walmart. My wife works there and i think the sell through was around 22%.

I guess because UK is much smaller than US.

Do you really need the prestige edition? It's mostly about the game right so I recommend just buy the game.

It still shocks me that people actually purchase these limtied editions and all that

^To both of you, yes I'd prefer to have the Prestige edition. It is no different than wanted a certain version of your car model, or a certain model in a TV series, or whatever. I just want it because a) night vision goggles would be fun to mess around with and b) I like collecting cool video game related things.

I can't got to EB Games/GameStop because as I said, they are all completely sold out of Prestige Edition pre-orders in my city. The location I went to said they had 50 copies just for their store and were already out. That means in my whole city there were likely 400+ copies of Prestige Edition just for 360 and just at GameStop and I ALREADY missed out on them....

I'm going to try Blockbuster. Getting it at midnight is no longer that important, but I really would prefer to get it day of release and very much prefer the Prestige Edition.
