Forums - Sony - IGN Reviews Motorstorm: Arctic Edge.. score... WUT !

Closing Comments
I could prattle on for another thousand words about how much I love the level design of some of the tracks or how the handling just feels right for all the vehicles, but these are things you'll end up discovering for yourself when you plunk down the change for the UMD or downloadable version -- and you absolutely should. This is MotorStorm, in its entirety, in a wholly new setting but without losing anything that made the series so damn fun on the PS3. Without a doubt, this is one of the best racing games you can find on the PSP. Go buy it.

Rating Description

9.0 Presentation
Fantastic visuals, the same CG clips running behind all the menus, and a sense that you really are part of a massive festival are all communicated perfectly.
9.0 Graphics
Though the framerate can dip a bit during heavier scenes, it's a minor change at best and normally the game is nice and smooth.
8.5 Sound
Though it'll sound a bit chaotic without headphones (and even with them on this is still an aurally aggressive game), the engine sounds and soundtrack are great.
9.0 Gameplay
MotorStorm through and through. No, it's not doing anything especially new, but what's here is a carbon copy of the big screen experience.
8.5 Lasting Appeal
You'll find a ton of stuff to unlock and customize vehicles with, and the Festival Mode alone will take weeks to finish.

i hope they do a 3rd Motor Storm on PS3...with desert, pacific and snow areas...would be sooo awesome!

... Which probably lends credit to the idea that the low scores of GT:PSP are at least partially based on the more immediate structure of the game vs what the reviewers expected out of a GT game.

In the case of Motorstorm, which even in its PS3 incarnation is a pick-up-and-play arcadey game, there was no such mismatch and the resulting scores are better, even though from the videos I don't really see how this game might be much better than GT:PSP when it comes to the main course of driving.

Oooh, with that thread title, I was expecting a low score but this is nice.

In all reviews it seems that the only thing wrong with GT psp is the lack of a carrer mode. Polyphony should patch it in.
