Another question guys... When you set skills, there are 2 'main' skills and 2 'sub' skills. As a mage, I set Wind magic and Ice magic to my two main skill slots and then I set my Fire magic to one of the sub skill slots... How do you use skills in the sub skill slots? I couldn't figure out how to use my Fire magic.
@ dib8erman - I'm gonna be leaving out in a few. Let's get a couple of runs in tomorrow... how 'bout it?
for me on wiimote and nunchuck I press directional up to go to subs.

Kenology said: Sorry guys, here's my FC: 1548-4924-8635 I added Alphaprime, sc, and dib8rman... @ sc I need some Mage tips. I'm level 7 mage now and I'm basically using all my Fighter skills except for Sharpness. My magic is pretty weak so far - lvl. 1 Fire, lvl. 2 Ice, and lvl. 1 Wind. I remember you saying you have to equip a stave to really use magic. I haven't found one thus far (no one sells them in the main village and the dwarf village... Where can I get one? I just got my ass whipped by Gard the dwarf King. Guess I need to switch back to my lvl. 18 Fighter because my lvl. 7 Mage ain't cuttin' it against him! |
You don't really have to, I just didn't know how to use magic back then. You can get two different staves from killing the golems in the first area of B4 Nolz mines(where you go in to fight the boss.) One has a fire attack(I played both episodes mostly with two of these.) The other one is rarer, it doesn't have any special elemental attack, but it boosts attack more. Both are at Rank 8. Just kill the golem again, and again it should also boost your levels. For the first boss make sure you do these things:
1 If playing as a Job that specilizes in range attacks or magic, bring a fighter or thief to distract him.
2 Raise Avoid and Speed if you are a close ranged combatant. If you are close ranged bring a priest.I forget there names so I'm labeling them by their specialty.
3 If you are using magic, level up to 20 mage with that golem. Put EVERYTHING into "int". Then level everything else to 15. Also put that into "int". You should be around 40-50 int. Also raise one element to at least 3. If possible raise it to 5. By the end episode 1, try to get two skills to 10, and the rest to 1 or 3. You get something special in Episode 2 due to this.
4 Bring lots of potions, or priest healing spells as secondary. To switch to sencondary spells just tap up on the D-Pad. If you are serious about magic, boost your priest as well. In episode 2, the upgrade Priest/Mage, anchor, requires skills from both in order to use it's skills.
5 If you are having trouble with the Boss hiting you as a mage, try raising your avoid either through armor or raising speed.
6 If you are going to specialize in magic, heal your mercenary every so often, so he doesn't die, and you still have your distraction.
After you level up this high, and do all of these things, the rest of episode 1 should be a piece of cake.
yep sc XD only its faster grinding off the sky dragon in rhianos but no earth rod XD.

Depends, I found sky dragons to give more XP, but they were much harder to find, and respawned much slower.
