Forums - Gaming - Super Mario Galaxy - Violent? ESRB says YES!

So I was watching the beginning of this video and it says Mario has "Mild Cartoon Violence". I didn't really know there was such a thing as cartoon violence but I suppose kicking a goomba and watching him fly into the cold depths of space would qualify =P

It just struck me as amusing to think of mario as a violent game I guess, just to be clear I am not saying this is going to be an issue for it or even that anyone will notice or care....but apparently when you stay up into the Wii(did ya see how I did that?) hours of the morning your mind notices some really stupid stuff.

Night..well morning all~

You don't think jumping on a living, breathing creature and CRUSHING THEM INTO OBLIVION counts as mild violence? You must live in a horrible society, completely desensitized to blood-shed and cruelty. =P

Wow... what time is it there? In Greece it's 1:34 PM.

I agree with Parokki....its just mild cartoon violence, nothing important, but parents should be nofity that their kids will be playing as Mario and jumping on creatures.....8)

Try compare this to Tom & Jerry.
Or Coyote & Road Runner.

Other than that. Welcome to the Nanny State of America. /ducks

or even Itchy and Scratchy...

kids must know that they live in a cruel world that need to be clean from koppas, gombas and lacusts, so violent games like mario or gears of wars should be mandatory in schools.

Does anyone care that it has "Mild Cartoon Violence?"  Will it really change anything?

This is all because of Marge Simpson's crusade against cartoon violence ...

Truthfully though, some children (in particular 'hyper' young boys) have difficulty with cartoon violence because it makes them act out in similar (often dangerous) ways and parents of those children like to limit their exposure to it. As a rough guestimate, there is probably 1 child and parent like this in every class in every school (which adds up to a lot of parents and children)

dang an i thought manhunt was bad

The latest studies on this show that video games aren't responsible rather children acting violently have natural tendencies to do so regardless of video games.

The ye olde "Video games are bad for children" myth is steadily dying out.
