So glad that the correct answer came up so quickly in this thread.
I don't really understand the problem that the author of the article is having where he's been lobotomized by beauty, but the only problems with more beauty in a videogame context is either if it doesn't suit the context of the game (clashing design aesthetics) or if the rising costs and diminishing returns just don't justify the result.
If two really pretty games exploring different themes and ideas can be made for the same price as one extremely pretty game, I'll take the two over the one, thank you. Sometimes quantity really is better than quality.
