Forums - Sony - SONY did the right think with GT5

@perpride
I see your point now. That's why I asked about MS exclusives, because I feel this holiday is somewhat watered down as well. I'm looking forward to both Uncharted 2 (PS3) and Modern Warfare 2 (360), but other than that we know FFXIII will sell but what else is there?

()=what system I'm getting it for.

I can be patient.

Lots of games to play right now, whenever gt5 drops I will buy it.

Forza hits first, but given how bored I was of Forza 2, I'm not in any big rush.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Perpride, I can understand what you are saying but unfortunately that's not the way the business works.

I can speak from a Marketing prospective and therefore see the benefits of releasing GT5 in 2010.

This is pure speculation but I can see the PS Eye being the key here.

Many believe the "delays" are due to more work being done on integrating the PS eye into the game. Although I am sure most outside of Sony have no evidence of this it can be true.

Not long before MS drops Natal Sony can sell GT5 as natal like game.

In the consumer's eye that can make a difference but that is another argument.

Just my two cents.

I was kinda pissed off/disappointed when the March 2010 window was announced.

But, now that I think on it, I guess it was for the better. I can wait a little longer if it is perfected.

agreed, releasing GT5 alongside with GOW3 is a great idea.

besides, I don't want to play only 65% of GT5.

I'm glad to see that some agree with me, because ever since the announcement of a March 2010 release date, all I've seen is everyone being upset.

I'd love it this holiday too, but if they rush it and it's not of the quality that we're used to seeing from a Gran Turismo title, future iterations will suffer because of it. I'm more worried about sound business sense from SONY's perspective, as I'll have my hands full with Uncharted 2 and COD:MW2. On top of which, I'm heavily considering buying NHL 10 as well.

I'm not sure how I'm going to balance GOW3 and GT5 though..that's gonna be tough=P I'll have both day 1 though, of course.

I think sony did the right thing it gove Uncharted 2 chance to shine and that would be impossible with Assassins creed 2, Halo odst, Modern warfare 2 and GT5 breaving down its neck

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

@OP: I agree with you completely, dude. People decided to take the rumors of a 2009 release for granted rather than a grain of salt. It won't affect me much, as long as the game is polished. All that I hope to see in the final result is 3D trees, and fully polished damage. If they do that, the game is a win.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

1.) GT PSP needed to have some time to have it's own sales. If GT5 were released in December, people would completely lose interest in the PSP version, thinking it's just "the little brother".

2.) The Slim, as the OP has mentioned, has created it's own wave of sales already and it is not necessary to throw GT5 into that because GT5 will create it's own wave. Consistency of sales is better than a large spike followed by a flatline.

3.) Sony's holiday lineup is already strong enough, and as mentioned already, Uncharted 2 needs a holiday just for itself because it is turning into a console moving franchise; if GT5 were released this December, a lot of people will pay attention to that instead of U2.

I felt like Sony tried to do this last year with Killzone 2 being pushed back to 2009... it didn't really seem to help.
