Forums - Sony - Top 10 Moments in Metal Gear Solid

Great list. It is a little sad that you don't have any of the moments from MGS3, like Snake and The Boss at the end.

Eh cool I just got a Journalist job at this website!

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

Zen, my friend, there's no flaming involved here (yet), just common sense!

The thing is, there's virtually no plot hole. If anyone can't analyze the most important part of the game, which was the part with Eva in Chapter 3, they just didn't play the previous games enough (or have a hard time doing connections in their head). Heck, the biggest complaint I have was that everything was summarized too much!

Oh wait, there are plot holes about Sunny and what's gonna happen next, I guess... That's pretty much it.

SPOILERS! Ok the first plot hole that bothered me the most is Dr. Clark. Which was a he in MGS but a she in MGS4. Another one is the ending of 4 when Big Boss pretty much said that Eva, LO, NH, worked together to free him from the patriots then why would Eva throw herself in a fire for a body she knew wasn't Big Boss's? Now Vamp, he run on water, drowned in water you can't get up from get shot in the head and the best thing they come up with is shoes and nano machines? LOL! thats just a few of many.

@ Dr. Clark part, I will copy this information from Wikipedia here:

Due to the gender-neutral nature of the Japanese version, Dr. Clark was referred as a man in the English version of Metal Gear Solid. It wasn't until the Metal Gear Solid novelization by Raymond Benson that it was revealed Dr. Clark was a woman. The book also revealed that she was also involved in the Les Enfants Terribles project. The Metal Gear Solid 4 Database covers this inconsistency by explaining that Dr. Clark seldom exposed herself to others and left almost no data behind after her death. As a result, Naomi was convinced that Dr. Clark was a man.

@ Eva "killing herself" part: I just don't know what to say to you. Do you remember that pretty much the whole Metal Gear Solid saga revolved around Liquid's Insurrection from the beginning? If you didn't understand why she did it, well, I say go replay the game and refresh your memory a little. You probably just didn't understand the ending to the whole series.

@ Vamp's resurrection part: I don't really see the plot hole from previous games here as Naomi pretty much explained everything to Snake (the player) in Chapter 4. It's pretty much understandable that he was special. About his special power... Call it special Japanese character treatment... It's Kojima's character after all! Besides, blame it on MGS2 for not really explaining how he managed to deal a mortal blow to Emma while he was supposedly dead!

The reason you're seeing plot holes is because you're misinformed. The Metal Gear Solid 4 Database that you can download for free is a great software that lists everything that was discussed in the previous games and MGS4. It doesn't give new informations that weren't in the games, so it's all about doing links with each part and which character knows which character and stuff.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Exactly. That is one of my favorite MGS moments.

MGS1 is my 2nd favourite game ever just after Metroid Prime.
My top moments form MGS1:
- The beginning with Snake in his scuba gear
- "Good Snake. It looks like time hasn't slowed you down..."
- Sniper Wolf battle
- Checking laser triggers with my cig smoke (didn't have infrared goggles 1st time)
- The lift scene
- Psycho Mantis
-...

I'm just going to stop cause the whole game was just mind blowing. I finished it probably 15 times. Oh God the Helicopter! MMmmmm... I ditched a girl to play MGS once! :)

Can't comment on MGS without saying the negative too. MGS2. Most hyped game I ever 'bought into'. I lusted over it for 2 years. Got it as soon as it came out payed R700 (like 65 pounds back then) for it and... Deep disappointment. Raiden!? HELL NO. Sorry Kojima, you really hurt me.
