Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii 10 mln. or PS3 5 mln. in Japan. Who first?

you quoted the wrong post. I said in RESPONSE to you. What you quoted was me asking ioi and Zorro a question, then you asked why they would use another tracker and I stated the reasons why. I don't know why that question bothers you. I'm not sure what other points I have to address, all I said was it's not biased to wait for some final data when things look iffy as they do this week. Anything else your saying is irrelevant to that issue so I have no reason to address it. I'm not arguing that VGchartz data is right or wrong.

First off, you didn't address the point though, you only keep saying that the other three trackers disagree and that you side with them, however as I pointed out repeatedly, ioi will decide whether the numbers need changing, in addition this is VGC, so your argument, that the other trackers disagree is moot, as I have pointed out, even if they disagree, only ioi will decide if VGC numbers need changing, if he doesn't then they are what they are. Actually asking whether VGC numbers are being used, when you know that they are, since this is VGC and brining up the other trackers, does indicate you are questioning whether the VGC numbers are accurate.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

What point do you want me to address? That ioi will decide if the numbers need changing? Why would I address that? It's a fact, he's the owner of this site and he'll decide if the numbers are worth changing or not.

I clearly stated reasons as to why other sources would be used for a bet that ioi is involved in, and yes I do believe that Media Create is seen by the major publishers are more accurate than VGchartz, which is a reason it may be used as well. I do question the accuracy of VGchartz when it's the odd ball out, just like I'd question any of the others if they were the odd ball out. This is something I've already addressed as I said the exact same thing in a response to you in this very thread.

No the point I wanted you to address, is that you keep saying that the other trackers disagree, but why should that have any bearing on the bet? As you agree, VGC numbers are decided by ioi, so unless he decides to change to match the other trackers the numbers are what they are.

No, because ioi is not biased, so saying the other numbers should be used, is calling into account his credibility, why would he jeopardize the site traffic and his credibility for a bet?

Even if MC is seen as more accurate by publishers, we aren't on other sites, we are on VGC, hence VGC numbers are used. Even if VGC is the oddball, like I pointed out, ioi will decide if that warrants a change, so the fact that VGC has different numbers is not a reason not to use VGC, since ioi and maybe the source are like the only people who have the actual data, and will decide if changes are needed.

The other trackers disagreeing has baring on the bet because when that happens ioi usually adjusts his numbers. Every game tracker, large and small have made mistakes and even ioi can do so, so when his numbers come up different from the others he might adjust his figures a bit when he takes into account which stores those companies track.

As for the second point, ioi is the one posting the figures so I assumed maybe HE wanted to use other numbers so people could stop calling him biased, as he's clearly not happy with it and if he wins some people may not give him the credit he deserves. I've not once called him bias and my very first post in this thread was aimed at people who did, and I told them it was foolish to do so.

Lastly, yeah we aren't on a Media Create site, yet ioi, Zorro and everyone else keeps posting their numbers. It was really a simple question and I don't think ioi claims to be more accurate than Media Create, perhaps even ioi sees them as a more accurate source of Japanese numbers. He openly admits that VGchartz is a growing thing rather than the absolute source. I didn't say they should use Media Create because they had different numbers. I simply asked which one they were using because the differences do show up from time to time. When I see ioi make a post saying "PS3 sold 50k this week, maybe Zorro was right!" quoting Famitsu numbers I do have to wonder if they decided to use another source for the sake of the bet. I wasn't reading this entire thread to find out.

I think you're arguing over something that just isn't there. I didn't say VGchartz numbers were bad or inaccurate and I don't care if they use those since I find them to be very good for the Japanese market. I wasn't attacking VGchartz, I wasn't attacking ioi and I wasn't attacking anyone or anything else. I asked a simple question which sent you into a hissy fit for no real reason. You're trying to derive some sort of deeper meaning that just isn't there.

^And if he does, then it'll show up on the front page, but he hasn't yet, so until he does his current numbers stand, so unless he changes them, they don't have any bearing.

Using other numbers would make it look like he didn't have faith in his site and the numbers here, not to mention people would still call him biased any time they didn't agree with the numbers.

The fact that he posts other numbers is to make sure the information is known, not to mention he does look at other trackers himself, even if he does consider them overall more accurate, doesn't mean he changes every time they diagree with his, same with NPD, he doesn't change unless he has a reason to, it may turn out theat he does change, but right now he hasn't made a change.

I didn't have a hissy fit, actually you were the one who was getting all upset over it, saying I was out of my mind or annoying, all I did, was call into question what I saw as your bias, because you seemed to be arguing that other trackers should be used in place of VGC for the bet, because of the difference between the trackers, even though we are on VGC, however if I misunderstood your reasons behind the comment, then I apologize.

You are annoying and you are out of your mind if you can take an innocent question and somehow turn it into a debate about things I never said or even thought. That doesn't mean I'm upset but I kind of have no idea how you can derive any of this stuff from my simple question of which tracking source is being used for the bet. I also clearly explained why I asked the question and you still continued on as if we were having some epic debate about ioi being biased and VGchartz being wrong. It's like you WANTED to have that debate so you just did it despite the fact that I didn't say any of that.

As for your comment on the bias, if they were using Media Create or Famitsu and people called ioi biased because his predictions were in line with their data that's completely baseless. ioi is the one who posts the VGchartz data so I can assure that he WILL be called biased if he wins this bet, and he himself might have wanted to prevent that. If you can't understand these 1st grade concepts, especially considering some of the users on this site, then I wont keep saying them over and over.

I asked which tracker they were using because...I wanted to know which tracker they were using. How you took that as me arguing that ioi is biased and VGchartz is wrong is beyond me and only goes to show that you're overly defensive for no reason.

Edouble, just drop the subject. You're never going to win with him and the argument will just keep going around in circles.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

true. back on topic. Final Fantasy XIII will sell over 2 million in Japan and make PS3 win this little race.

Final fantasy 13 will probably push it over the mark. So I guess my vote goes to ps3. Though it will probably really close.
