Forums - Gaming - A look back to 2003: GCN up YoY, PS2, XBOX both down after GCN price cut

All I'm saying darth is that people should wait a while before proclaiming a massive comeback.. For all we know the pent up demand might not be huge and just like a big game launch, the PS3's sales could have no legs if you know what I mean.. What I'm trying to say is that a lot of people wanting one at $299 may buy it these holidays and next year could go back to sub 200k levels.

We have to wait and see what happens.

^Some of you, guys, are trying to directly compare things leaving out a bunch of details (some of them unknown btw), i.e. without a context.

OP, I guess, is trying to point out that tremendous success of PS3 Slim lately despite of marketing hype, treating it like Second Coming, won't change overall situation significantly. It's still even undecided whether Sony will be able to keep momentum of PS3 after price-cut like X360 did last year with it's software line-up. There's a great chance of this happening, but I wouldn't bet that potential PS3 growth in sales will be enough even to close the gap between HD twins, not to mention practically unreachable first place. Japan though is a whole different situation.

Quite an obvious stuff.

I think that was the time when the GC dropped to 99 or 50 Euro in some European Countries (can't confirm for all countries).
