According to a rather lengthy thread on Bungie.net, several Halo 3: ODST players are having technical issues with the game. Users are reporting that disc read errors are occurring during the game, rendering it unplayable. Some believe the issue only affects older consoles, specifically those with older DVD drives. Anecdotally, our own David Hinkle encountered the DRE issue on a 2008 Elite. According to Hinkle, installing the game to the hard drive seemed to fix the problem. He later bought a second copy of the game and hasn't encountered the issue again. It's also worth noting that this issue seems to be isolated to the ODST campaign and Firefight mode. The Halo 3 multiplayer disc appears to be unaffected.

Not me or some of my 31 friends (Out of 54) that buy ODST got any trouble, thanks lord for that. Want to play against my pals whenever i felt for it :)

I did have ONE problem, in firefight i was playing with one other friend and for both of us it just froze for 3 seconds (the game kept going however, when we came back the brutes were in different spots). But then my xbox had been on 7 hrs straight, 4 hrs spent on firefight. But that was my only problem.

I don't know what it is but Firefight lags alot.  Its not my network either cause I can play Halo 3 just fine without lag.

ODST is quite a glitchy game.  Theirs the constant firefight lagging, and theirs also a glitch that will screw you out of the vidmasters endure challenge sometimes by the game freazing right before you can unlock it (which I pray doesn't happen to me!!)

The game also has some pretty serious frame rate issues.   I've also had a few little problems with the disc error message, but that doesn't happen very often.

Its a thread. On a forum. That hardly indicates a widespread problem.

that's weird, i work at gamestop and i have only gotten one return of ODST, and that was because the multiplayer disc didn't work

The messed up thing is that its the opposite of whats happening to me,If i play off the disc its fine,if i play from the HDD it screws up.

And yes Firefight lags ,most of the time it is because of Vehicles.
