Forums - Microsoft - My fixed X-Box is freezing!

Alright in early august my 360 Elite got the RROD. I spent the whole month trying to get it sent into Microsoft but problem after problem occured. Finally I printed out the shipping label and mailed my 360 in. I was really suprised it only took about 2 weeks for my new refirbished X-Box to arrive in the mail.

I was really exited because it arrived only days before Halo:ODST launched. So I turned it on and started playing some ODST. When it happened four times in two days my 360 has frozen. I'm worried because in the mail I read that I am under my last X-Box's warranty meaning I am only covered for RROD. However my uncle said you get a 3 month warranty on your refirbished X-Box.

So what should I do? the console isn't red ringing its just freezing every few hours. Do you think I can send it back to Microsoft or does it have to Red Ring for them to fix it?

All in all I'm pretty upset, the console they send me freezes up within hours of turning the thing on. I barely got any use out of it and I want my 360 to work so I can play me some COD:MW2. How can Microsoft send out defective hardware as a replacement?

hmm...you could always try to force it into a RRoD if you're feeling unethical

Or you could just tell MS that the repair wasn't particularly successful and you're not happy.
They should be able to fix it for you again, this time hopefully properly lol

Hope this is an isolated incident.

Im due to get my machine back tomorrow and its only been away 6 days.

Sent all the way to Germany from the UK and I get an e-mail at 10 am saying its arrived at the depot and another 5 mins later saying my repaired/replacement console has been dispatched back to me.

I have to assume its a replacement unit with that speed of repair.

At least I hope it is.

They will take it back.  I had a RROD situation once and when I got it back the first time the console booted up fine, but then no longer fed any video to my tv.  I called them and told them what happened and they emailed me a new shipping label right away.  Even though it was entirely possible hat I had that problem before the RROD they still took it back.  Not only that, but I believe their policy is to replace the console completely instead of repairing a second time.  That's what they did for me.

phone them asap, the longer you leave it the less likely they are to accept responsibility for it.

RROD seems to happen a lot, 2 of the 4 360 users that i know well have had to send theirs off at some point.

Bad news.

also, when i read the title of this i thought you meant that it was physically cold, as opposed to overheating

If you sent it in for repairs and it came back "worse" than how you got it, just call and complain and they'll fix it. All repair jobs come with a short warranty on the repair, so you could accuse them of introducing a new problem while fixing the old problem.

Heck, I got my DS repaired for broken L/R buttons and the screen wouldn't turn on. I went back to the repair center the next day and they fixed it while I waited.
