Forums - Gaming - Shenmue 3 is now a possibility.

In one of the articles I had written here at VGarabia.com, I had discussed what are the reasons that’s preventing Sega from releasing shenmue 3 on current generation of consoles. Sega had put a lot of resources and money to create Shenmue, even Yu Suzuki the creator of Shenmue had stated in interview that Shenmue development cost reached 70 million dollars.

The main problem is: current generation of gamers barely knew about this masterpiece. Also, why would Sega consider releasing shenmue 3 for gamers who hadn’t played the previous games in the series? Marketing and sales wise, it doesn’t make sense for them.

So, one of my suggestions was to release shenmue 1&2 on PSN or XBL, in an attempt to revive the franchise and to make current generation of gamers asking for a third game. Fans of Shenmue (like me) has been asking many times for a third game, but we must be realistic about it.

But after the leaked information from the infamous meeting between Sony and Sega, everything could change. Sega is considering now to release some classic Dreamcast games on PS3, which could open the opportunity in reviving the Shenmue franchise through releasing the two previous games on PSN. If Sega did this and they became satisfied by how many times shenmue 1&2 has been downloaded from PSN, we will have a higher opportunity of seeing Shenmue 3 in our hands.

I hope Sega to consider releasing Shenmue games as a part of the deal. But nothing has been confirmed to this point, so we will have to wait and see.

why is everybody so vehement about a shenmue 3 sequel? Was there a cliffhanger or something?

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Obligatory dick measuring Gaming Laptop Specs: Sager NP8270-GTX: 17.3" FULL HD (1920X1080) LED Matte LC, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M, Intel Core i7-4700MQ, 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3, 750GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive

Not to like ruin on anybody's parade to those that are hoping a Shenmue 3, but doesnt it feel like Sega has like scrapped Shenmue and replaced it with Yakuza?

The only way i could see Sega doing another Shenmue 3 is if there's alot of buyers for the when/if the previous Shenmues on PSN sold well, or Sega will save it for when they want to make another system. Shenmue 2 didnt exactly do too well on the Xbox either.

Hard enough to get Sega to bring Yakuza to the west, what makes Shenmue any different.

Just my perspective, but i wouldnt mind another Shenmue at all =P

Yes, there was.

@Strategyking82

Actually the whole shenmue story was to be released in 12 chapters, and the story was cut short at the chapter 6, since shenmue 2 encompassed 4 chapters of the whole history. So there is a lot to be told yet, and since shenmue 1 and 2 were the best games that were released for the Dreamcast, there is a huge fanbase waiting for that dream to come true T.T

THis aint going to happen, No one wanted the original Shenmue and for the most part that hasen't changed. I want 3 but I would not rebuy 1&2 save for massive additions.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
