Muscle is much denser than fat, so it takes up a much smaller volume of space. If you build muscle you can add to your weight while losing fat so BMI really isn't that accurate a measure for a lot of things except to call people like my cousin a walking heart attack.

BMI is ridiculous in the cases of those in the table obviously.
Well, it's pretty much ridiculous for any athlete.
