Nice to hear that. I had the same problem. My 40 gig died on me and I had to wait 40 fucking days to get it back.
Well now I bought myself the slim and I have 2 ps3 and dont need to worry about one dying again ;)

Good for you that Sony repaired your PS3 for free. Also got a 40 GB PS3, so far so good.

it's a 40gb though it doesn't have ps2 chips causing extra heat, those don't die from YLOD that easy.
