I really hope this gen will last long... like really long... but I don't know about the best gen.

No sega console = not the best. but still its a damn fine one, i've only been in the PS1/N64 to now and they were all great times but i think this one may take the cake.
As for how long? i dont know i hope its long though because all us gamers have spent way to much money to let it go all to waste so soon.

I would say it is the 3rd best generation after the SNES-Genesis generation and the N64-Ps1 generation!! But yes I agree that it will be the longest generation thus far!!

This.
360 Games Now Playing: 360 Games unopened: Resonance of Fate Last 360 Game I Beat: Resident Evil 5
DS Games Now Playing: Dragon Quest VI DS Games unopened: Knights in the Nightmare, Etrian Odyssey III, Okamiden, Dragon Quest IX Last DS Game I beat: Radiant Historia
Wii Games Now Playing: Super Mario Galaxy 2, Arc Rise Fantasia Wii Games unopened Little King's Story, Sonic Colors, Silent Hill Shattered Memories Last Wii Game I beat: Sin & Punishment 2
It'll be close to the longest, right now the longest was the second generation, which lasted from 1977 to 1983
Although if you count the dreamcast, then last gen was actually longer, from nov 1998-nov 2005
Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!! Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I agree.
All the AMAZING games were in the PS1/N64 generation.
I definitely would not call this the best gen. The hardware is faulty and the console 'wars' aren't producing healthy competition, but more like engrossing third parties and fans of games in bitter rivalries and hurting the gaming industry. And this all really took heavy roots last gen, during the 'console wars' between the PS2/XBOX/GC.
I fear that its going to take another gen (or two) just to get back to a neutral state where third parties actually focus on games instead of trying to work on a 'system' or targeting specific petty markets. In this way, I think the best 'gens' were the SNES/Genesis and N64/PSX gens. Even when there was tons of competition, there still was more emphasis on making fun 'games' and not making 'exclusives' or cutting a 'budget' targeting the 'core gamer'.
No this generation is not even close to the best generation - too many disappointing games this generation that did not live up to unrealistic expectations.
1. SNES/Sega Genesis was the best generation for games. Too many classics.
2. PS1/N64 Generation.
3. PS2/XBox/GC/Dreamcast generation.
4. NES/Sega Master System.
5. Current generation.
It is quite possible that this generation could be the longest generation on record.

I agree, for my taste, the PS1/N64 was the best gen ever.
However, it pretty much depends on your favorite genre.
Platforming? Snes/Genesis, with the first Sonic games, Super Mario World, DKC and more.
JRPG? PS1, and I hope I don't need to explain why.
Shooters? Pretty much this gen.
You see, I don't think there is one "best" gen, it depends a lot on what are your favorite genres.
Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
If you took many top selling games from previous generations, spruced them up visually and kept the game-play the same, you would find that the games from 1998 do not hold up well to today's standards. Just because they set the standard of yesteryear doesn't mean that the standard hasn't moved forward.
So yes, I would say that this is about the best generation except for those who like timeless games like JRPGs which haven't changed much substantially in years.
Tease.
