I thought Singstar MJ was already pretty much confirmed?

A Rock Band or Guitar Hero version would be odd, but if it comes, Sony should request exclusivity for it, seeing how they pretty much own his library of music.

Singstar Michael Jackson is the following things:

1. Confirmed. I haven't seen a release date but it will come out,
2. Not a cash-in on his death. The game has been in production for a long time now - well before his death. I first heard rumblings about the game in the spring.


Hopefully it will be ala Beatles Rock Band - authentic and insightful into his amazing career, not just a track pack game.

Is the 'confirmed' status you guys are taking about some kind of insider information? Cause I haven't heard any news on it except that leaked French release schedule a while back.

I expected Sony to announce it at GamesCom; but they didn't, so I assumed the game is not coming out. (Where else can they announce such a big title?)

I will totally buy this if it was release this year in NA with wireless mics.

With a title that has Michael Jackson in it. They can announce that anywhere and people around the world will pay attention to it.

True, but I still think it made sense to announce it at GamsCom, since SingStar is biggest in Europe.

Thriller sold 100+ millions. If MJ SingStar gets announce and only 1% of those people buy it, it's still 1 million, most of them probably will not alread have a PS3.

Singstar MJ would make singstar immensely popular in Japan overnight. It would capture the so-called casual market for PS3 in a Wii Fit kind of way. Why announce a MJ game in a market where Singstar is alreay popular. Announce it in a market where it will open up the game franchise to a whole new audience.

So with that thought, if it isn't announced at TGS this week...then...?

So far all the worst kept Sony secrets really have turned out to be true. This one might be the exception to the rule...for now.

Last time I heard, MJ was pretty big in Japan, wasn't he?

and that would be "Closer to home" due to SS being London Studios?

Also, SS is starting to get revamped slowly - now has voice control, wireless mics, trophies, SS clubs, video editor etc. so who knows, this might see an announcement a TGS, not completely b3yond the realms of possibility. tie that in with news of the PSN music/video service and you have a winrar

If this game is true. Then Sony has a surefire hit on their hands.

Could potentially be the game that helps Sony get on top this gen.
