Before I do give you my conclusion, I need to clear up the notion (that many other Christians do indeed hold) of literal truth: I only take the parts that are meant to be literal as literal.  I acknowledge that there are metaphors in other places in the Bible, but I don't think Genesis 1 is one of them.

With that out of the way, my reason for believing that the Bible is true is...

That's.... difficult for me to imagine, I admit. A very interesting thing you're describing.

I will share my reason, then: I question because I have to. It's because of how I interpret the story of Jacob, and also how I intrpret the story of Abraham.

It's also why I cannot believe that you are literally unable to question it.

Well, if you want to go back into that endless deathtrap... ugh, I can't stand the thought of it.  I was really burning out too :/

Oh, don't worry too much, I have little stomach for the main thing anymore, it was pretty clear that only scant or even NO headway was being made.  No, the tangent was much more interesting to explore for me, and seems like it makes a good bookend.
