I don't know if he games or not. I think the guy is just doing his job and at times he gets a bit too much crap about it. I was under the impression that the videogame market was "his thing", but I read a quote of his regarding dvd sales in an IMDB news article the other day. I guess he's more of a general entertainment, software kind of analyst, rather than a pure videogame market analyst.

If I have to vote, I'd say he's not a serious gamer. It's not a crime to not be a serious gamer, even considering his job. That being said...I want his damn job. :)

I think he just says stupid things to get attention, but that's being optimistic.

There are lots of gamers on this site that make stupid predictions (including me). The fact is, Pachter is in the business of predicting the future, and it's not easy. Sometimes someone has just the right insight (I've seen a few who really nailed the Wii this generation) but the same people may be dead wrong about the next generation or previous ones.

 Why get a PSP?  I know the hardware is ultra cool, high tech, etc., but I've found myself just not interested in handheld gaming any more.  Puzzles and stuff for short periods of time are OK, but any more than that and I want a console with a full sized, full featured controller...

 We already have Gaymers (Gay Gamers) and mature gamers and I suppose casual gamers could be 'softcore' gamers. 

 Oh and in multiplayer matches theres bound to be different races playing each other, ta da interracial gamer.
