Forums - Sony - How bad is Lair????

it has a steep learning curve as far as controls are concerned (both six-axis and analog although analog is a little bit better). If you stick with it, it is a good game never the less.

For under $10 it is a good buy. I went in expecting horrible performance and enjoyed it. Lowered expectations helped a lot.

I didn't find it that bad.... Its also better now with the analog control, but six axis was never that bad. Just took time to get use too.

I felt the same and bought it - £5 quid seemed okay for a 'so bad you've got to experience it' sort of thing.

I can tell you it isn't horrible, and actually has some good elements, but overall its definately lacklustre.

The good is the music, sound and general production values.

The bad is the rather weak missions and variable graphics - some elements look very good, but I found many others lacking. It can be a real pain actually knowing what to do - for example you might be told to take out some units, and looking around can see nothing but dots. Often I flew around aimlessly wondering where to go. The ability to flick on some form of 'dragon vision' and see mission objectives highlighted or something - or just a plain old minimap - would have made a big difference.

The okay is the controls (note I was using gamepad with patch rather than motion controls). They ain't the best controls, but they ain't the worst.

In short, I'd say I'm sold on the idea that there is a great game in the concept of Lair, but Lair isn't it. It's just an average title that launched with too much hype and weak motion controls. Despite the production values in some areas, it also seems cheap and unfinished in others, particularly mission design and features to make navigation easier.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Only thing I had a problem with where the scenes in the middle of playing... like youd be flying around killing shit like a bad ass THEN BAM!!! pointless cut scene interruption. The controls werent a problem for me... It seemed to me like the people who had problems with them where making sharp jerks when slight tilts would be sufficient.

It's so bad, the developers/company that made it closed down

I remember standing in line getting my PS3 at Wal*Mart and going in to watch the LAIR Movie they were showing in the electronics section, it was amazing..

Then when I played it, I was like wtf is this..... it's cr@p

Now it wasn't their fault Lair was bad, it was ghosts.

It was challenging in a BAD way... I mean I payed for it(out of curiosity) so I had to finish it. Then after that it collected dust and became a forgotten remnant of the house. Hey what are we talking about again?
