I've discovered an excellent MMORPG called Perfect World (http://pwi.perfectworld.com/) It started as a Chinese-based MMO, and has expanded to include English-speaking audiences as well. It's free, but is actually really well-done. I think it may even beat WoW, but I won't know for sure until I get to a higher level. The character customization is awesome, the classes/races are nice, and the detail in the environment and spells is comparable to any paid MMO. The storyline is based around ancient Chinese mythology, and the music and environment (and NPCs) all have a really nice East Asian theme/look.

I may quit WoW in favour of this, and it definitely helps that it's not taking a $15-per-month chunk out of my wallet.

Didn't you mean this is the perfect world? ~_n

OT: Looks cool, reminds me a little of Dungeon Siege.

Xbone... the new "N" word   Apparently I troll MS now | Evidence | Evidence

The other day The Chronicles of Spellborn became a Free MMORPG aswell, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of that in the future aswell. For now WoW is the undefeated champion of pay to play MMOs simply because it's so huge now and therefor offers the highest value fo your money. So until that game ages too uch the masses won't switch to something else.
