Forums - Gaming - Analyst: Console Industry in danger. PC and Mobile gaming keep growing

A lot of what was said in this article was just Captain Obvious information. I also was really questioning it's validity when it stated this:

"The dirty secret of the game industry is that the console hardware manufacturers have helped subsidize much of the industry by spending billions to develop and market hardware platforms that drive such a large portion of consumer excitement and spending. The most profitable platforms for third-party publishers have been those from Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo has offered a third option, but the Nintendo business model has not been as successful for third-party publishers."

LOL...Shio....The PC gaming industry has been growing steadly for about 15 years now....how is this news?

Read the article...

We all did... it wasnt that long or complex...

The thing is that I agree with scottie... this is market growth we are seeing and that alone is enough to pretty much destory every asumption this analyst has. And lets be honest, 3rd party devs can survive on Nintendo platform, they only need a good method for it. We had already seen many success stories on it, and their numbers will only grow

I agree to an Extent....And now I must rain on the parade....the PC growth is due to free to play MMO's....nothing else..

I don't think the console industry is in danger right now, but it could be in a mid-term future.
