Forums - General - OMFG, Apple I HATE you!! (new iTunes update for the store)

So I just updated my iTunes software this afternoon. I went to go see how the store looks like now...and now I gaze upon some of the music I like and they jacked up the price from 99 cents to $1.29. SERIOUSLY, the hell?? O_O

Just an FYI to anyone who uses it. I should've NOT accepted and downloaded the new iTunes 9 update... >:(

Yeah, I noticed that a few pieces of music were $1.29 and thought it was just those pieces but I think I read somewhere that getting rid of the DRM came with a small price increase.

Also, I think the price change goes into affect whether you're using iTunes 8 or 9. >_>

They got rid of the DRM?

....Hey Amazon's MP3 store already has no DRM, and it's still cheaper than that

Still, that's pretty sweet!

Yeah, any piece of music you download now should be able to be played anywhere, at least I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere a few months ago.

Ah, here we go:
Apple Drops DRM on iTunes

Talks about dropping the DRM and the variable pricing.

It's been like that for quite some time, this isn't new. And it doesn't matter what version you're using.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

Variable pricing has been in the works forever now. Record companies were upset with the deal they signed before the ink even dried.

Cause they're idiots who still want things the old way rather then adapting to a digital online environment.

I think with all the government intervention on companies behalf... they've all gotten lazy and shortsighted.

Record Companies, print media... etc.

Nobody seems willing to adapt anymore. Even videogame publishers for that matter.

You can buy your music anywhere, and import it into iTunes if you like.

I'm using iTunes 7.3 and it still jacks it up. Still pisses me off, though.
