Not really, it was a pretty mediocre launch title. If it were released today...or at some point where the PS3 had a large selection of games (just kidding, couldn't resist the jab) it really wouldn't sell too well at all.

I don't think RFOM was underrated? it got scores from in the 9's from IGN, GS, Gameinfo I think it was the xbox loyalitsts trying to put it down, but the game got praise by reveiwers and alot of sights compare it to gears of war, remember it was always a draw.

I am guessing you forgot about Ratchet and Clank. For a small studiolike Insomniac to produce one game a year is impressive. for them to produce games of the quality of R & C and resistance each year is simply amazing.


Even small studios can have more than one team (I know for a fact they have more than one team). If you really think that they made R&C in a year you are seriously misguided.

Let me try and make this clear for you. A studio like Bungie, who employ mroe people than Insomniac, have take 3 years to produce a quality title with help from MS. Insomniac have produce 2 quality titles in the past 2 years. That is why I think they are amazing.

 The game really wasn't that great.  It sold because there was nothing else and it got high scores because people were still blinded by the potential of the PS3 (and I don't say things like that often).  The art style was beyond boring, the gameplay had been done better, the level design was boring, the game was insanely easy to break, and it was just all in all nothing special.  It wasn't bad, it just wasn't really that good.

One of my friends interviewed with them and took their design test.  Since it had to do with RFoM, he bought a PS3 for the weekend and tried the game.  After we all played it for a while and got a feel for the game, we promply returned the PS3 and he never bothered finishing the test since we were all so disgusted with the game.  I interviewed with them too but I didn't get the design test since I had never played a R&C game and didn't care for Resistance.  Oh well.

 Bungie (I'm guessing) had one large team with a large budget working on one game that they wanted to take a large amount of time to polish.  Insomniac has more than one team with a good budget and didn't take that extra time to polish.  Releasing two titles in two years isn't the most amazing thing ever.

thats just your opinion though.. i dont think your thoughts represent anyone elses but your own..... resistance was a pretty good game in my opinion....in my opinion halo 3 was not that different than 2 but once again thats just my opinion

Anyways, it seems that Resistance 2 will be a good title. Can't wait to continue the story actually. It has one of the best stories of all FPSs. It comes close to matching Half-Life's which is shocking as the titles that sold 3.5 million in their first week's stories were quite meh in comparison.

A member of NeoGAF forum is a worker at Insomniac and he says that they have been working on another PS3 game for months now, it's probably Resistance 2. It is easier for Sony devs to produce games quicker since they have all the resources at Sony to work with.

I don't doubt this rumor at all but the worker at Insomniac hasn't replied yet so until he does, it's rumor.

 



I need to finish Resistance one of these days. It kept me interested far longer than most FPSes do, I'll give it that.

The only console FPS (or FPS in general) I've finished since Goldeneye was Killzone, and that was more out of hype after I saw the E3'05 trailer than anything else. The level design was crappy, but the artstyle and Helghast kept me somewhat interested, and the potential of KZ2 made me actually finish the game.

The only shooters I play even semi-often are online shooters like CS:S, BF2, and Warhawk. Out of those, Warhawk wins by far.



Once this comes out let the sony domination begin!!!!!! Seriously though, the original was just an average shooter, and I completely agree with twestern, the lack of games made this seem really good in comparison. It really is just a mediocre shooter, it was fun though. The 40 player online is just crazy, you die sooo fast, but it is kind of a kick.
