No, No, No, No, No, No, No, No, Nooo... NO MORE FPS GAMES!!!

WE NEED MOAR VERSATILLTY, it doesn't even NEED to be JRPG's (would be nice for moar though...) but damn if this keeps up ima call t3h PS3's the new Xbox 1!

I agree. Come on Sony, even the most die-hard of FPS fans are beginning to hate shooters! 3 FPSs? That's more than most shooter fans have ever played in their entire life!

THREE FUCKING GAMES. One of them sucked. One was a launch title. I suppose you'd rather they made 10 billion JRPGs every week?

But then you're forgetting the million other shooters by third parties.

But thats not what the complaint was about, people were complaining that Sony is making too many FPS games when they have only made 3 and have a 4th on the way early next year.    The PS3 needs another high quality FPS, cause the vast majority of those million 3rd party FPS games are terrible and cant even compare to the 3 that Sony released.

Four out of how many first/second party titles?  The fact is the FPS genre is currently the most represented genre by Sony's studios on the ps3, and when you factor in TPS games like Socom, the overall shooter genre is rather overpopulated, ESPECIALLY compared to other genres.   What happened to the plethora of platformers Sony used to pump out?  Ape Escape?  Jak & Daxter?  Sly Cooper?  Where are the RPGs?  We only have two decent ones this gen, and neither have come to the West yet, compared to three RPGs from Level 5 alone last gen, plus other gems like Wild Arms and the Legend of Legaia.

Sony wanted to compete with Microsoft on the shooter front this gen, and while I absolutely *love* Killzone 2 (Resistance not so much), I feel they ended up overcompensating in this area (though I suppose Resistance was more a decision on Insomniac's part than Sony's).  They've sacrificed the diversity they enjoyed last gen for shooter after shooter after shooter.

And honestly, out of all their shooter offerings, the only really good one is Killzone 2, which stands out due to its slick style, badass enemy designs, and robust online.  However, I hear MAG is virtually lag-less (my manager played it at the GameStop manager's conference), so maybe that'll prove successful too.

I don't have a problem with this. I just hope they throw some WRPG in the mix next year. Besides what difference does this make? Its not like Sony is using their japanese first party studios to make this game and it most likely will come out sometime next year.

Wait for TGS, we will see WKC 2, 3D dot heroes, and most likely gameplay from FFXIII Versus plus PSP titles from SE like FFVIII prequel. Some of you are over reacting and yes MAG is very good.

Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Socom... Quite a few FPS.... aren't there?
SONY Claimed to have 5 RPG's in development at the moment. We just have to wait and see, I guess...

Also:

I don't know what some of you people are talking about... Good Graphics doesn't automatically equal to bad Gameplay...

Killzone 2 is the only reason i turn on my PS3 most of the time right now [probably will be until I can get my hands on some Demon's Souls or the Uncharted games].

Great Clan System
Amazing Match and Game making
Well implemented Squad system
Great Class combination system
Actually in-courages team work
A nice campaign

PS3, 360, and PC have alot of room to push out some amazing visuals... what's wrong with using it? Doesn't mean the game will turn out bad... just means the game will look good...

EDITED

Amen.  I hate when people generalize like this.  And of course these same people would say the reverse if the graphics were really lacking.  "The game is pretty fun, but God is it hard to look at.  Wish they would have spent more time on the visuals."

Also, to the one who said that America is lost, I don't think so.  We're only half way through this gen.  Last week PS3 outsold 360 in the US with over 75,000.  It looks to do even more damage this week, with over 125,000 units sold thanks to the Slim.  And that is before all numbers are in.  Given this week won't be a full week with the Slim out, I'm sure next week will be big too.  If Sony keeps the momentum up, it is definitely possible to reclaim the US.

Over-saturated FPS market...

There is only so much room for mega hits... though Microsoft has pushed that number up a notch or two... I wouldn't mind seeing another FPS from Sony... if they can pull one off that doesn't suffer from overhype and underexposer

Killzone 3 or Resistance 3 PLEASE!!!!!!

Sony is in the business to make money.Best way to sell:FPS.Nobody doubt it...

Sony will surely use the KZ2 engine for another shooter, no surprises there. But they would do well to focus on making it great in terms of gameplay, and unique. KZ2 was too standard, too run of the mill, just another CoD clone with different clothes.

Hopefully it's false. How many FPS does sony intend on releasing? America is lost and cannot b reclaimed...I thought this was obvious?

So True...Focus on some JRPGs Sony thats where you are extremely weak right now. Leave the FPS to Gureilla and Insomniac

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I hope it's an original IP they push to be honest, also a step away from sci fi opera stylings might help too. Bioshock proved there is still some fun and interesting FPS ideas out there and Sony's first party studios are talented enough to take advantage of the right idea!
