Im pretty curious as to what people see in Sephiroth, IMO hes boring as, doesnt do all that much in FF7 (wasnt it just jenova all the time?) and has a backstory which changes so many times it becomes stupid.

DK on the other hand shoots coconuts and can turn mere barrels into cannons!

As to the bolded: this would only be useful if a larger portion of this forum's hudnreds of users actually bothered to vote in these poles. They cannot be taken as representative of anything in particular.

The fact that things are this close in any voting contest that there is a disparity between the ratios of the voting population and the ratios between the console-owning population: there are far more "Sony fanboys", as compared to other "allegiances", than sales would seem to suggest.

But if the site was overrun with Sony fans, surely there would have been at least 1 Sony character/franchise at least in the 1/4's. Dont you agree?

Do you mean the polls cant be taken as a representative of anything in particular? If so, then doesn't that prove your other point wrong, when you said the poll's speak differently? (I may have misunderstood this part of your post)

Maybe they are really close, but then again... there are 3 Nintendo characters in the semi's (inc DK)... and one who is practically part of Nintendo now. (Ninty publishing, M+S@ Olympics, SSBB...) Do we really know there are far more Sony "fanboys", compared to Ninty "fanboys"? No. Although when you look at something like this competition, or the VGC top 100 games, they do seem to show a heavy Nintendo bias.

Reality has a Nintendo bias. Maybe you should just accept that Nintendo's characters and games are that iconic and great and actually deserve to be ranked at the very top of such contests.

Also, anyone who remembers the yearly Gamefaqs character battles knew how seece's voting game were going to end up anyway. Mario, Link or Samus against Cloud or Sephiroth. There simply isn't any Sony character that comes remotely close to the popularity of those five.

If you want to call out bias, then it should actually be the other way around. The adoration of Cloud and Sephiroth was based on a single great game for the longest time while the Nintendo characters appeared in countless great games, so logically they should have a higher chance to be favored by an individual gamer. In fact, they were in so many great games that Nintendo can't even number them anymore, so they have to fall back on subtitles for new entries in the individual series.
