Forums - Microsoft - 2009- the worst year for 360 exclusives?

The age old battle. 360 gets Halo 3: ODST. If you're like me, and think that Halo is absolute garbage then you don't see it being so great. If you're a 360 owner, chances are you love Halo, so the year is fantastic.

Stop being so shallow. You're allowed to have the opinion that a game isn't good, and it may not be anything special, but the vast majority of 360 owners think the other way. Sure Halo is just another shooter, and gears is just another action game, but the owners of the console love it. POWER TO THEM. If they enjoy their console, they buy the games, they are enjoying their purchase. It doesn't matter what you think. 360 had a great year. PS3 has had more high caliber games since 2008, and will continue to have them, but Sony NEEDS that in order to start catching up. Microsoft is just sitting back and letting the good games roll and that's fine.

Personally, I'd consider it the loss of my dignity as a human being if I ever played a Halo game, that's just how much I hate it. I see it as the horrid demon that came and destroyed what was once a wonderful past time by bringing all of the people I despise into my hobby, I seriously think that and rage/squirm whenever I see someone mention it as a good game, and almost have a heart attack when someone mentions it as a classic. But I certainly respect it as a game that lots of people want, and certainly is a solid shooter with fantastic online capabilities and at least a mediocre story line.

Bottom line, It doesn't matter how much you hate a game or a series, you need to be an intelligent human being and at least recognize its success and what it means for a yearly release. Please stop being so god damn ignorant. That is the biggest problem with these boards, if you don't like a game, fine. You can even say why, but when you do something as ridiculously stupid as fail to even grasp the significance of its launch for the majority of the console owners, I don't know what to do for you.

The Majority of 360 owners own it because of Halo. Microsoft is successful because of nothing but Halo.

Halo 3: ODST is H_U_G_E.

To tell you the truth both the 360 and PS3 will do very well in 2010, but the 360 will own that year. But to stay on point, you're telling me you have no intention of buying Left 4 Dead 2 even though it looks far superior to the last version? COD5 (Which will obviously be better on the 360), Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Forza 3, Magna Carta 3, Shadow Complex, Ninety-Nine Nights II or Star Ocean 4? I'll admit that the PS3 had the strongest games of 2009 though, but 2010 will be the 360's for sure.

I don't have any intention to buy Left 4 Dead 2 or ODST unless after a rent they convince me otherwise. Which if L4D2 gives me the amount of content I expect from a full retail game and makes me forget that I felt ripped off the first time then I will certainly buy it as I really did love the first one. As for the other titles, I'm not interested in them at all as of now, except for shadow complex. I am going to buy that. I loved the demo. :) Also, COD5 i'm getting for ps3. My closest friends all game on the ps3 and other then some dlc maps as of now the 360 version isn't looking any better.

The 360 does have a good library this year. It can still be good and be the worst though as imo the 360 hasn't had a terrible year for exclusives.

I wouldn't give the 360 the title of 2010 yet. lol It will have an AMAZING year but there are so many games coming next year that haven't even been announced yet, and come on....GOD OF WAR III!!! lol But I'm a huge GoW fan. I'm really looking forward to Heavy Rain also. Mag I'm not very excited for, but I am for modnation Racers. So for me it's 3 for 3 right now. ;) But that is SO far away and SO much will be announced. I'll tell you what though, both my PS3 and 360 will be played A LOT next year. And that makes me happy. Hell, I might even play my wii again next year! :D

God of War 3 ( I know...this is the first God of War that i actually fork out the money to buy) will be great, but Mass Effect 2 will be better, longer, and most likely will be the most epic game of 2010. The full hot list for the 360 is Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Alan Wake, Crackdown 2, Fable 3, Gears of War 3, Halo Reach, Mech Warrior and Kingdom Under Fire 2. Some release dates might be announced, but not enough to destroy what I think will be the 360's most dominant year. My most anticipated game this year right now is Uncharted 2 though which will be GOTY 2009.

As awesome as Mass Effect 2 will be, for me, Alan Wake has the potential to be the best 360 exclusive of next year. But don't listen to me, I'm a huge silent hill 1&2 fan and I thought that alone in the dark had the potential to be an INCREDIBLE game (which it did have the potential, it just didn't use it just fell apart at execution and ended up being TERRIBLE)

Alan Wake will be great, but that will just be my Silent Hill fix (like you). Mass Effect 2 couldn't come any sooner. I am literally cringing. I even chanaged my avatar from Devil Jin to show my respect to my favorite fighting game ever and anticipation for Tekken 6. I forgot to add, Uncharted 2 is most anticipated exclusive, but Tekken 6 is the most anticipated game, period. :)

Oh wow! I didn't even recognize you without your devil jin avatar. lol I just realised who you were. I never remember names of members, but I remember avatars. lol But yea, right now Uncharted 2 is my most hyped game. And not just mine, but my girl friend's. In fact, she's so hyped for the game too that she just went and bought a brand new hdtv for her room so that I can bring my ps3 over and hook it up to the other tv and we can play the coop. lol Other then that, I'd have to make a top ten or twenty of my most hyped games or I'm leaving some really important titles out. So many great titles on the horizon. Unfortunately, I SUCK at fighters so Tekken isn't on the top of my list. I'm a noob, I know.

Hah! Tekken 6 will is a cool game to learn. You really should try it. There are so many cool characters with various fighting styles and interesting backgrounds.

I might suck, but I still own/ed tekken games. I've owned tekken 1,2 and I own tag tournament and dark resurrection. Tekken is probably the most skill based fighter, and I have avslow response time and just generally suck at fighters. Fighters and racers are the two games that I just suck at.

Having two consoles with near identical libraries will usually make one of them obsolete/redundant. I thought this was obvious? :/

Tease.

Without any true single player campaign, it felt like one of those online only games that give you a great experiance at half the cost such as warhawk, socom: confrontation, etc. only this one was full retail. I won't be buying mag either if it's $60. I'm not paying full price for one aspect of a game. I felt left 4 dead was even worse because I completed it in a little over 4 hours and after that it's really just the same thing over and over with a vs. mode that I didn't care for.  At least with games like mag the experiance is so different every time. Now, I did play the levels over and over, but I did and still feel like it was just as much a rip off as heavenly sword at $60 or any other of those 6 hour games that you can play over and over but the material just isn't there to warrant the price.

I count 4 ps3 titles in your OP

Your post is confusing to me. You call me shallow for saying Halo was a good game overshadowed by hype and with what I felt was a mediocre career but then procede to bash it and claim microsoft is only successful because of it.... :s

You would think so, but it's never been a problem in the past.

Basically this year is not as big as years past because there's not a full fledged game coming for any of the Xbox's three big franchises (Halo, Gears, and Fable). I know ODST is more than an expansion pack, but I think no one can deny that we expect Reach to outdo it in quality and content. If you look to 2010, chances are that each of these three will see a game released, along with an already strong lineup, making it the "oh my goodness, there's so many games coming out that I want this year" type of year.

That being said, this year we've seen Halo Wars already, the XBLA summer of arcade, and we'll see ODST later this month, Forza 3, Left 4 Dead 2, and Modern Warfare 2 coming out for racing and shooter fans, with Dragon Age and Risen coming for RPG fans. Chances are, if you own an Xbox 360, you will find something you're interested in coming out this year.

I stand corrected. I can't even remember what I typed. lol Still, I was mostly saying heavenly sword was a ripoff and MAG will be too if it's $60 so it's not like I was saying ps3 exclusive X is better then 360 exclusive y. So,

oh I know, I just pointed it out because you said you didn't

not talking about you, the others who claimed a halo game wasn't important.
