Forums - Sony - So Will Persona 3 Portable Set A New Precedent?

So with the announcement of Persona 3 Portable's introduction of a female character into the story( I don't even know how their going to fit this on a UMD but hey it's Atlus) will this also be included in Persona 5? Will having the option to choose your gender during the introduction become the new standard for following Persona games? Or will P5 have a female character instead of a Male or Male/Female?

Personally I think I might be the only one but when playing RPGs especially ones with silent characters I tend to put myself in the shoes of the main character and I don't think Ill be able to do that with a female MC especially when it comes to the romance S.Links.

Thoughts?

Oh and P5 will be announced between now and E3 2010 :P I Calls it

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

I'm pretty sure that all new Persona games will give the player the choice between Male and Female from here on out. I highly doubt that Atlus will release a female only Persona game.

As for my thoughts on using a female; I really don't mind. Although silent protagonists will always give you the feeling that there is a bit of you inside them, I've never played a game where I felt as if he was actually me. Also, I probably wouldn't feel uncomfortable dating guys with a female protagonist. It's only a game after all, and it might be fun looking at it from the other side.

Wait does P3 portable allow choice of male/female lead ?
Or is it only female lead ?

Cactus - you can always try dating females :D

You can choose in P3P, male MC is still there.

One or two of the pokemon I believe gave you a choice of male/female. I swear i've seen some others. And yes there will probably be some more. But it will depend on the game. It's not easy to have a complicated game with relationships that has both a male and a female arc.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

@Dharh all the Pokemon that came out after Ruby gave you that option. But Persona involves voice acting and relationships. Well I guess ill just have to see how P3P looks when it gets a release in 2010

Ehem Kotor 1 &2 and Mass Effect have diffrences in storyline based on sex of characters. So it's not that tough.
