Forums - Microsoft - Xbox 360 hard drive help

So i bought a 120gb hdd from my friend for $60. So i called MS for the transfer cable and apparently they don't give it out for free anymore. And i can't find anywhere selling it. Is it me or does the overpricced xbox bs never ends? I mean i now have to get an overpriced memort card to transer all my saves.

Why the fuck can't we save on the damn discs?

just buy a ps3 0_o

They do that so people don't buy secondhand and cheat them out of their money.

You can do it through your pc. Take apart the outer casing of the drive and inside is an SATA hard drive that you can connect to your motherboard. You will need software to transfer the files but its free. I can't remember the name of the software, but if you google it you should be able to find it.

Here is an alternate plan perhaps........

If you have a Live account you can integrate your account onto your new HD. I went into my settings and went to the Live downloads section and re-downloaded from my 60g to my 120g when I got my Elite. All my prior purchased games, videos, ect. You can even go to the systems settings and set your 360 to have the downloads continue even when your 360 is off, so you dont have to leave it on if you have like 60g worth of stuff or want to do other things. It only uses a little bit of power and automatically stops when all downloads are complete.

I also have a memory card for easy transfer of saves and live accounts when I go to a buddies to play split-screen titles. If you have a friend with a memory card, barrow it, copy your saves, and transfer them onto your new HD.

If that does not work, simply try craiglist, or see if someone as cool as coolbeans above would be willing to mail you his/hers for use.

Here is a guide for you
