I think that it is an automatic response that any politician has when they need to mention a product or company to mention one from their country. If the american president has to name a car manufacturer in a speech he would say 'Ford' or 'Chrysler' instead of 'Nissan' or 'Volkswagen'. It just looks better to mention things associated with your country, people like it. If he said Sony or Nintendo it could have looked bad. Then again maybe I'm reading too much into lol |
I agree in general. But I also think, given its a speech for kids it was more about making an impact to them. And I think if he were president when PS2 was king it would be more natural to name that than say the original Xbox, even though one is not American. Sort of like how some people say "a Xerox" instead of "a copy" or a "photostat". I think its just what came off the top of the head of the person who wrote the speech.
