Having recently become a PS3 owner, I'm starting to wonder why I'm being charged $50 a year for Live. I enjoy using both services, but if Sony can pull off what they've done with PSN for free, I'm going to have a really hard time letting go of the $50 next year to renew Live. Twitter and Facebook for Gold members on XBL? I can (and do) check my Twitter, Facebook, AND e mail accounts on the PS3 web browser for no charge. Content wise, the two are comparable, except you can get free 1080p video on PSN and I think XBL maxes out at 720 for pretty much everything. The PSN store holds its own against Marketplace. Xbox Live has the party thing, but I don't really know that it's worth $50 a year. The Netflix account I started when it came to Xbox is now being used mostly to order BluRays to watch on my PS3. The Instant Streaming stuff is largely crap and does not do the Netflix library justice in any way, shape, or form.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the 360. But now that I'm using both networks regularly, I know for a fact that Xbox Live is not worth $50 a year when you compare it to what the competition is charging. Just my two cents.
