Forums - Sony - You Think Future Updates Will Have Compatibility Issues With/Brick Phats?

There have been tons of accounts of people having problems with new firmware updates in the past, the most recent of them being 3.00. Now that the Slim will be treated as Sony's main PS3 console, they'll obviously program updates specifically with it in mind (and to a lesser extent, older models). I think they'll favor the slim more when it comes to system updates.

Will incompatibility issues arise? Will more original models die? Only time will tell. Do you think Sony may neglect the older models (and their subtle differences) when coding for new firmware?

I've had no issue with my Phat and 3.0, runs like a charm.

3.0 works fine in my 80 gig.

I'm surprised nobody who has had problems came in here yet...

I think that there are more differences - from the point of view of the firmware - between the 60GB models and a recent 80GB one, than between the latter and the slim.

I don't know why there would be problems.  Even if some parts are smaller and it's built differently, it is still the same hardware that they program for.

Installed and works better than before i find.

No.
sony built a recovery menu.

Launch 60 working good on 3.0 here
