Forums - Gaming - "It's called LAN!"

Some guy at on Blizzard related Forums has been posting of a incedent at the latest Blizzcon in his post "It's called LAN!" which was latter locked:

That's what a BlizzCon attendee shouted out after Rob "answered" a question regarding the reduction of multiplayer lag in Australia. And of course, there was also that earlier incident where Rob asked how many people still play games offline and a little over half the crowd gave a resounding uproar of confirmation. After an insulting snort of laughter, he asked "Really?" and quite a few people shouted out things like "Yeah!" and "Yes!" and "All the time!" Asking why they didn't play online, a handful of people gave reasons, the only audible answer being "College." Then he proceeded to blatantly brush away those reasons by giving the insulting response, "Well, those five people will be able to play in offline mode."

Nice one, Rob -- real nice.

He or someone apparentally posted it on Battle.net but it got removed for some reason:

Lol Wow...

Implement online feature as a plus, dont focus on it.

its is as if games nowadays are made with the online component as a the main part, even if online is very important now, a solid single player is what gives games their true value.

I guess they want to make money off Battle.net, either with advertising or paying for it.

That seems to be the only reason I can think of that they would not implement LAN play.

This is invisible text!

Hope they don't start online fees.

Someone is probably already working on a hack or workaround for the issue, just means less sales for Blizzard

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

I find it hard to believe that Blizzard themselves are getting like this. You'd figure this would be an attitude that would come down from high command (i.e. Kotick), but not from Blizzard.

Why do you find it hard to believe? Blizzard is a company. They are in it for a profit.

This is not the same Blizzard that existed back when the first starcraft came out

Very smooth. The Starcraft community was built over a period of years - are they actively trying to see how fast they can dismantle their own fanbase? If they keep insulting their own loyal users, then any failure Starcraft II meets with will be richly deserved. Nobody lasts long by going against their own audience.
