I think that's just what they do when they have a year set for the game but not a date. A lot of the 2009 games appeared at retailer websites as out on the last day of 2009 too.
Should be coming spring 2010.
That is a long time away. Oh well I'm not to keen on FF any ways. I'll probably give it a rent at best.

I don't think that New Years Eve is the best time to sell a game... boy would I feel depressed if I was just standing in a huge line, freezing with a bunch of other gamers, entering this static florescent lighted building, while all around the world people are celebrating the next year of their lives... dunno, it just feels wrong to me.
And yeah, this definitely isn't real... c'mon man, as a person with as many posts as you, you shouldn't clogging the forum with shit like this >.
It's a placeholder date, those are never right. Even worse is when they give a date a few months away and keep delaying it (Amazon does this) to make you keep your preorders.
I wonder if they'll have free champagne too!

lol wut? Oh wait, I see that it says 360 in the title and this is Microsoft discussion, but if this was in any way real, then I'm sure it'll be released the same time for the PS3 as well. FFXIII is a multiplat game, not an exclusive, nor a console I don't own XD
