I'll add my 2 cents in here.

The article does make good points, but only time will tell how it all shakes out. the 360 by design will of course be replaced before the next Playstation comes out, that is pretty much a guarantee.

I don't see any reason why the PS3 cannot last for 10 years, the ps1 last quite a long time, as has the PS2. Of course the next PS will come out before the PS3 goes out of production, just as the previous generations have. How successful will the PS3 be? Well, we'll find out in due time.

Yes, i do like the Sony brand and systems and always have. But I also like the Xbox systems as well. But with all the negativity surrounding the 360 with quality reasons and a potential for the DVD format being too small for some of the huge games that will come out in the future could really limit what the 360 can do. Do we know for sure that it will be realized before 2010? Maybe, Maybe not. Again, time will tell.

Predictions Predictions and more predictions,we have to let time do it's work and see what happens, Well seeing a console last 10 years thats huge O_O, but is an interesting article, and YES I have read the whole thing -_-, I can't believe that it could last 10 years, probably by then there could be something two times better then the ps3, techonology advances just to fast, I think that sony did the ps3 just to freaking advanced for it's own good.

Wii fans can't handle the inevitable truth that the ps3 is going to win this war... Ps3 has great future. Ppl down the ps3 so quickly, I wonder if any Wii fans have actually tried the ps3. I tried the wii few times and I know for sure it ain't my cuppa tea. I want real games, with story lines, emotion gameplay and sweet gfx. I'm so hanging for Drakes :D Now that is a game ;P

is funny that some people still have faith in the ps3 , i like sony, and i love the ps3 and the blueray but the chance of win this "war" become smaller, the wii gonna win in hardware(userbase) and fun, microsoft in software and AAA games, maybe the ps3 only win in graphics, but dont matter if the ps3 is third, is only a product(ps3) and a company (sony), if you like the ps3 is the only thing that matters.

Why is it so hard for you to accept that most consumers see similar value in the Wii to the PS3 and are not willing to pay $400 or more for the system? Why is it so hard for you to accept that publishers are impatient and are not going to wait 3 or more years for the PS3 to sell at an acceptable level? What would have to happen for you to accept that the probability of a PS3 comeback was low?

The PS3 is going to finish this year having sold 7 to 8 million units and won't break 10 Million until May or June of 2008; at this point in time developers are going to realize that the PS3 is 12 to 18 months behind their initial schedule on when the PS3 was supposed to break 10 Million units. How many developers are going to spend $20 to $40 Million to target a userbase of 15 Million PS3 owners when they can spend $5 to $10 and target 40+ Million Wii owners.

Soon enough publishers are going to look at their analysts numbers and do a comparison of potential profitablity of games to be released in 18 to 24 months, and it will be less flatering to the PS3 than a technical comparison between the Wii and a bleeding edge PC.

The main flaw in the very idea of postponing the PS4 is that Sony did not mean they would try to extend the entire console cycle to ten years. They just meant working on making the system be successful enough to last ten years. However, they wrapped it in a bunch of hype to make it look like something unique.

10 year plan is how long they are going to support the ps3, not when the next system come, heck the next console might come out 5 years from now
