Forums - Sony - PS3 is as bad as 360 RROD, 2 repairs, £200 and died again.

ive had a 60gb launch ps3, its blu ray drive failed. the only reason why i hated Sony for it because it was a $600 system, these things shouldn't happen to something that costs a fortune. i had to pay $150 for repairs

the ps3 might not be as reliable as fanboys make you believe, but it isn't anywhere near the unreliability as the 360.

You're the most unlucky PS3 owner ever. I have an 80 GB launch PS3 and it hasn't gone through one single problem, besides getting pretty loud every now and then.

dude, dont falsely accuse people. MM476 is on his 4th 60gb too. Better be careful, I won't trust the 60gb if I were you.

Mine's 80 GB, if that makes a difference.

ohhh it's the lens..
thats easy to fix can be done for less than 100$

No one ever said the PS3 didn't die, it's just not even close to as high as the 360's.

This is now the third time my PS3 has failed, and for all you Sony fans that will say... oooh no it hasn't any you are making this up... shut up and and get a life... YES IT hAS and I am a little upset. I have had it "REPAIRED" by sony twice at a cost of £99 each time and quest what it has new stopped reading disks. So if anyone is thinking of getting a PS3 don't bother is Shxt... I have a 360 and yes that has failed but good old MS repaired it for nothing... But not sony they just keep taking your money and producing crap... Just on a side is there any way of recovering my PS3 and not sending back to Sony "AGAIN".. I have restored the system and then updated to the latest verion and still no joy... If you can please help.

Have you ever considered perhaps you're at fault? You may be handling the system wrong, it may be in a poorly ventilated area, the temperature of your home may be too high.

Of course you'll say "No I treat it like a baby, everything is as good as it could be", but I know people who bang on their consoles and slide them around, put in discs with gunk on them who'd say the same thing.

Usually I feel sorry for such bad happenings, but I am going to be franc, I DON'T BELIEVE YOU. I have checked you post history and seriously, what are you trying to prove?

PS3's (especially launch models) can break you know, at least with the Slim they are giving out a warranty now. Sony fans just go on about reliability becuase we all know the 360 is far worse in this area due to bad enigeering and designing.

That sucks man. At this point I'd invest in a slim if I were you.

Fortunately for me though I have never had a problem with my PS3, so I can't really share your pain.

Get a slim

Edit: Thats what I did, at least. My 60GB was getting too hot/loud to the point of making me nervous. Traded that sucker in for a slim. Slim gets hot on the back, but cool on the sides. Also, it's dead silent.

Actually, the 360 jasper has less chance of breaking than the  launch PS3 and Slim possibly
