I've been  trying to get that or some clone of it (aMSN or KMess) on my little Ubuntu laptop for a while now, but I can't really figure out how to do much of anything with Linux.   Can anyone help me?

And in case you were being literal when you said you didn't know what to do, go to your Package Manager and just do a search for "Pidgin". It will take care of the installation for you.

I do love Ubuntu.

Pidgen, eh? I do have that, but I'm more interested in being able to communicate with people that have only MSN messenger. I do think I've read somewhere that Pidgen can somehow do that, but I don't know how.

after installing pidgin, you will need to click 'accounts' at the top and then select 'manage accounts'. From there you can add your msn messenger username/password.

I like pidgin because I have friends on msn messenger, yahoo messenger and google
