I always wondered, is Zap Brannigan in some way supposed to be a spoof of Zaphod Beeblebrox from Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy? I mean the names and personalities are too close to be a coincidence. Has any writer or creator of the show ever said something about that?

My guess is that the voice actors whos pay rise got rejected realised that they would rather some money rather than none at all seeing as they were gonna be let go.
