Forums - Microsoft - Why Xbox Live is Worth the Price

I've yet to try Xbox Live my self, so i can't really say, but there is one thing i can say... I dont need another bill other then my internet bill a P2P bill isn't worth it over that IMO, even if it is one time a year which could go to various other games, or food, or drink or whatever.

Its the reason why i choose to pick PS3 as my main gaming platfrom overall this gen because of PSN and it being free... not if PSN was P2P to OR XBL was Free it would be a whole other ball game. but its not so in conclusion its not worth it in my honest opinion.

If only more opinions were like that.

I will never EVER pay for XBLA again!! I don't care! I just think it's stupid to pay for online!!

I love xbox live, I switched to silver though until I've got more time to play.

I will try to keep it as simple as possible. I wantto play COD4 . I choose this game as it is multiplatform and is supposed to be very good online. After buying the game for $60 on either PS3 or X360 or $50 on PC. I get the full game all features enabled and I play online. Why is it I have to pay extra to play it on the X360. I don't care about demos, movies or anything else. I just want to play the game I bought to its fullest.
Why is this free on the other platforms and not the X360.
If MS and Sony feel the need to sell me demos, previews insider access and all that crap I don't want I don't have to buy it. I only want to play COD4 so that is all I should have to pay for. It's that's simple, I want to play what I payed for. It is unfair that others can play online unlimited for the price of the game and I can't.

But you don't have live so why does it bother you?

I want demos for free. I love demos and I'm not going to pay for that when it is free elsewhere but I don't go into sony forums yelling that qore is a rip off and acting like my excuses for it are the only reasons that can should be true. I enjoy what I have and leave others to do what they want to. Why can't the people on here. You can't ignore qore and what it represents because you aren't interested in it if it comes up. If XBL gold is a scam to you then so is qore to me. It has all of the arguments you make against Gold in it.

You have what you want and even if you and others seem to be so offended by anything ms... i mean XBL Gold you could not act so critical of it when millions enjoy the service and are very happy with it. Happy enough to pay. To me if you can't state your opinion in a well thought out way in a thread you don't belong in then you're trolling. This doesn't necassarily apply to you.

First off, after 2 minutes of Internet research on Qore (and correct me if I'm wrong), Qore is simply a subscription like the old PlayStation Underground (and in fact is the successor to it).  You get game videos, interviews, beta invitations, and EARLY ACCESS to demos.  That's right, (Wikipedia sez) Qore has not given ONE EXCLUSIVE demo, only exclusive early access to demos, and probably not very much before everyone else got it.  Hell, it might have been the beta for the demo, although I freely admit I'm pulling that out of my ass.

Gold is an ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT for multiplayer.  You can't wait a week (or month or whatever) after everyone else gets MP and then start playing like with Qore's demos.  So I believe that you are making a false equivalency here.

To backtrack a bit, earlier you were talking about WoW.  I see this, too, as a false equivalency.  One game having a special fee (subscription) to play it is not like having a subscription to be able to play (MP) on a platform AT ALL.  In fact, isn't it true that FFXI (the MMORPG one) was on the 360, and required you to pay Gold AND its own fee?  This alone should tell you it's not the same thing, because you're getting double-dipped when the two subscriptions coincide.

A dollar a week is hardly going to break the bank.

Some of you seem incapable of separating online play with a bunch of other stuff. All I am saying is to play any game online should be free. The fact that live offers all that "extra stuff" is proof of this.
They know they cant charge you just to play online when no one else does so they have to try and justify it. I still have yet to see a valid argument as to why basic online play can not be included in the silver membership.

well considering on live you can actually talk to a group of mates while everyone is doing completely different things is easily enough reason to fork out the money.

No that's not true you only needed to pay the monthly subscription as has been said plenty of times before. You don't need gold but keep spreading that. You could have found that out with 2 minutes of research.

I don't see how having to pay to play the online section of 100's of games is worse than having to pay for the online section of 1 game? That in it's essance is what it comes down to. You still have to buy the game then pay the online sub. isn't that what you hate so much? What's the difference? You're forced to pay the sub to just play the game, at least with gold you can still play it offline for free so the fee in Wow is an ABSOLUTE REQUIREMENT for multiplayer AND single player. Then you have to pay for expansions.

Gold is required for multiplayer but acting like gold is forced on you and everyone who gets an xbox will have to buy it is bull. You can play multiplayer at times for free so its not an absolute requirement. Just because you need it doesn't mean everyone else does as well. Let it be. some people don't care about online.

About qore if you read what I said I mentioned the beta and mag sections which are free on live andjust because you don't need it or care others do and that it is bad business practice. Gold gives you a service. A similer service that others charge for, online multiplayer, but to pay for game vids, demo, beta access interviews which the competitors give away for free? Don't you see that as a scam. If Gold is then that must be as well.

no its not, yes years ago xbox live was better, now they are about equal, i have better game play on psn, it never lags , or freezes, i dont have frame rate problems it runs great, xbox live runs good to, but i have way more lag , and freeze problems with my 360 all around, demos are pritty equal, dlc is about the same, depends on games ovcourse, psn has more free stuff, i think psn has better arcade games, and the movies and tv programs i can watch in 1080p looks much better. the video 360 streams looks loke garbage. so NO xbox live is NOT woth the MONEY. qore is just news, you dont have to have it, some episodes are free, but its news, xbl you have to pay for to play your games online with friends, its a bit different
