Forums - Sony - I love Best Buy replacement plans!

ok, I love these things.

So, here's my story.  My 80 gig ps3 (motorstorm bundle with BC) always ran extremely hot and loud.  Louder than my 360 even.  It ran so hot that I felt it wasn't being nice to my other consoles so I had to seperate it and give it its own space to vent in peace.  So, when the slim came out I figured it would be a good time to cash in on my replacement plan.

So, the great thing about these replacement plans is that it also covers the price you paid.  So when I exchanged my ps3, they gave me a giftcard for over 500 bucks!  That gave me an extra 200 dollars to get more crap for my gaming hobby!

So basically, replacement plans are good!

yeah, told them it froze up when I played games, which it did from time to time.  It doesn't have to be compeltely broken to be covered by the replacement plan.  It just needs to be not working as well as it did when you got it, basically

ahhh okay. i was under the impression u returned a perfectly fine system haha

Best Buy can do that? O_o Might have to buy things there in the future.

Does the replacement plan cost money (how much if it does?) and is there a time limit for it?

yeah they cost money, price depends on the product price. time length i am not sure, they may have multiple lengths like either 2 years, or 3 years or 4. i know games have a 1 year thing.

while it depends on price, i think it also depends on how reliable a piece of hardware is. not to derail or start a flame war or anything, but i noticed a sign in my bestbuy for replacement plans on consoles and the 360's was most expensive vs ps3 n wii even though it was cheaper.

I'm incredibly jealous of you. Just traded in my 60GB for $160...

Though, $140 for a slim isn't bad. Not as good as -$200, though.

So what would be the price for a PS3?

i dont remember as i only glanced at it... but it was prob between 40-70. this was when the system was 400-500 though so it might be less than that now. u can prob. check on bestbuys website if u add one to your cart.
