no, ps3 slim does the same as the fats, composite video is rca jacks, component is the red, blue and green looking for video only, then hdmi which you cant confuse with anything, so dont worry ,all is the same from the original ps3

I got my PS3 Slim today...

HDMI setup... 1080p no problem...

Comes with only an A/V cable though... The buttons are annoying compare to the touch buttons on the originally bulky version... The biggest annoyance is to charge the controller you have to use the PS3 USB as they do not provide a wall plug cable anymore... I'm also disappointed that hard drive removal still requires a screw driver... Having 3 PS3's now this makes it really annoying to move from machine to machine throughout the house.

Hey, slim isn't supposed to release just September 3? How are you people already owning it?

I know you probably got your answer already, but it can surely do component because Sony's been using the same rectangly typed cables ever since the PS1 came out. I bought a PS3 component cable and it works for my PS2, so yeah...!

^ It's been out in Canada since Tuesday I believe.

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

controls always charged by usb.

actually everything charges by usb now. HDD Removal always required screw drivers.

and it even worse for PCS!.

I think some TVs don't accept 1080p in component cables, but up to 1080i at least they all do, I think.

no, its the HDCP standard. If a video of any form doesnt stream in digital form it will be knocked down to 480p if the video has HDCP codexs installed. Luckily, movie companies are SLOW at adopting HDCP into their movies. Sadly, they are federally mandated to have to by I think 2010 to support it.

I thought my 80 Gb and 40 Gb came with wall plugs for charging.  Maybe I bought it afterwards...?

I thought Sony would have come up with a caddy system to make the hard drive detachable without a screwdriver.

I only own laptops now...  So my upgrade is usually to buy a new one...  I am done messing with PC hardware, I don't have time.

Yeah, the component cable has the same connector as the composite cable - the guy at your Game Crazy is just your average guy at the average Game Crazy.
