I don't know about Skype....But last i used Vent and TSpeak..it was not free....Someone had to host the server with a monthly fee....Unless people mean the public server hosted by the Program devs..which I heard of but never used since it's pointless for PVP MMO's....Some explain if you will...

Free clients, yes. Free servers, no.
I suppose some games have their own 'free' VOIP service, but it's not really free because it's coming out of the game's price/subscription.
So I've never heard of free Vent/TS either.

Theres free Vent servers all over the internet, and if you want you can get Premium ones with better sound quailty, for a small fee. Goes for TS aswell. You can also host a ventserver on your computer aswell, and have clients connect to you.. free of charge. Though the vent would go down if the server host logs off.

Which means it's not free....and..if you host a vent server...it does not go down when you log off..I assume you can set it to do so...But I'm not sure...Since I was never a commanding officer...So I never got the host passwords...was a PVP captian though...and a Raid coordinator...

Yeh,the client is free...but that's about it...I guess people assume since they are not paying for it..that their clan leader is not...
I'm not sure I'm understanding... you could always host a TS server in your own PC if you wanna chat with people. some ISPs hosting a TS server (at least here in Brazil it works like that) might let your clan own a channel for free too, and they usually set up game channels as well

it always been free, but i have friends on ultima online that hosted a voice server and it was free

Teamspeak has always been free. I used to host my own server while we played online games.

seriously, they were, u could host your own servers, and it only audio. it's not that tasking for the pc or the upload/download rates.
