Right, the PS3 Slim is due out in under a week and straight after the annoucement of the Slim they mentioned that the 80Gb PS3 will reduce in price in line with the Slim cost.

So here we go, come next month you will be able to buy a 80Gb PS3 Phat for the same price as a 120Gb PS3 Slim.

So where is the incentive to buy a Phat compared to a Slim...you get an extra 40Gb worth of HD among other things with the Slim.

Inititally I thought that you would see further reductions for the Phat, or even adding in a few games to balance out the difference, but are we seeing this?

In the UK, the new price is £249 and Phats seem to have miraculously disappeared along with the bundles and even Play made bundles disappear and even didn't reduce the Phat bundles accordingly.

I fully expect bundles to start appearing for the Slim especially for Uncharted 2 and for the price to be either £249 or not much more and for the retailers to start reducing the prices by £20 or so to secure sales from them rather than other retailers...but again, what then happens to the Phats?

They surely haven't disappeared overnight, when they were available a few days before the annoucement?

What do you think will happen?  Will Phats appear again at a £199 pricepoint to get rid of them....will they appear with 2/3 games at £249 to move them out the door?

Actually noticed at Amazon.co.uk that you can get a 80Gb Phat with either Infamous or Ghostbusters free for £245 and you can get another game from a selection of others including Fight Night 4 for an extra £10...so thats not too bad.

80Gb Phat + Infamous + Fight Night 4 = £255
