Bungie Won't Say If Halo: Reach Is The Studio's Last Halo

Last month, Bungie senior designer Lars Bakken said that Halo: Reach would be the studio's last Halo title. "In terms of Bungie-produced HaloODST and then Reach is probably all you're going to get." games," the designer stated, "

Microsoft subsidiary 343 Industries is poised to take over the series after the release of first-person-shooter Halo: Reach.

Bungie is back tracking on Bakken's remark and has deployed community and pr director Brian Jarrard to clean up what the senior designer has stated.

"The clarification is we just don't know at this point. I'm not really able to speculate on what we're going to do after Reach," Jarrard told website VideoGamer.com. "I wouldn't confirm or deny at this point. We're really excited to get Reach out the door. Beyond that, we're not at liberty to say right now what's next."

But...

"I think there's a lot of work just to get Reach done between now and next fall. At that point anything's possible. We're going to keep looking at making the games we want to make. Maybe that's Halo. Maybe it's not. We'll have to wait and see."

Maybe that's Halo. Maybe it's not. Maybe today I will eat a ham sandwich. Maybe I won't. You'll have to wait and see.

I dunno. Maybe they don't want to talk about another Halo game when two games are already going to be released.

they should make a halo 4, and then call it quits, its been a long ride after all

Halo's sake..I want Bungie surgically removed...

I think reach should launch the Natal, and Halo 4 should launch the nextbox, and then bungie should be done and move on like you say because I agree, it has been a long ride.

But Microsoft will NEVER allow Halo to completely die.

Why ?

Graphics, Less Hang time during jumps...and a few other things I wish were slighty different...I wish Infinty Ward and MSGS would team up...

Yeah i just hope they don't screw up Halo: Reach, it has the potentail to do better than Halo 3.

Bungie made the only HD exclusive to sell 10 million + copies. The closest one is what 5 million away?

They deserve to do what they wish with the franchise. At this point they could either kill it after Reach or keep riding it into the sunset. Silly gripes aside, any console FPS fan of the modern age can thank Halo for their success. Anyone willing to argue, please refer to the quality of FPS games prior. You had... Goldeneye...and Perfect Dark. And that was pretty much it.

I read somewhere just recently where they did say that Reach was to be their last installment in this franchise. But anything can change i guess.
