The new slim model for the Playstation 3 has been a hot commodity ever since it was announced last weekat GamesCom 2009. In fact, Amazon (the biggest online retailer in America) has already sold out of its pre-order allocation. The product listing page of the Playstation 3 Slim shows that the model is temporarily out of stock and the following message:
“Order now and we'll deliver when available. We'll e-mail you with an estimated delivery date as soon as we have more information. Your account will only be charged when we ship the item."
Furthermore, if you keep refreshing the page, you sometime get a slightly different listing that states that the Playstation 3 Slim “usually ships within 1 to 2 months.”
Sony has been struggling against the competition with hardware sales, especially in 2009. Fortunately for them, it looks like the new slim model (along with the all important price drop to $299.99) is rapidly increasing demand for the Playstation 3.
Tell me what you guys think.
