Or am i wrong? Am i forced to have a G router?

Around the Network

I believe an N router should work with G and B.

Got some money to spend.. and been thinking on buying a Elite. Got some questions.

- Are all new Elite units Jasper models? Probably yes
- Whats the "advantage" of Gold membership in Europe? Playing online, getting content more early, weekly discounts on DLC
- Bundle or no bundle? I dont want Halo. Are there any good bundles out now? Bundles now have Halo 3 and Fable II.. If you don't want those, buy the console separately..
- Elite comes with built in WiFi right? Sadly no
- What kind of audio does it support? 5.1/7.1?

The following audio formats can encode on Xbox 360:
  • Stereo PCM, 16-bit, 48 kilohertz (kHz)
  • Dolby Digital ® 5.1 channel digital audio, 48kHz
The following sound formats can pass through Xbox 360:
  • Dolby Digital ® 5.1 channel digital audio, 48kHz
  • THX 5.1 channel digital audio, 48kHz
  • WMA Pro
  • Digital Theatre Surround (DTS) 5.1

- Are all controllers battery driven, no matter which unit you get? Yes, unless you get a wired one, or you need to buy charge kits
- Has the HDMI cable been removed (europe)? From now on, yes, but there's still stock with HDMI if you're quick.
- Do i have to purchase HDD upgrades through MS? If you buy Elite you can't upgrade. 120GB is max
- Does it support 3rd party bluetooth keyboard/headsets? No bluetooth and no 3rd party head sets unless specifically made for the X360 (like MadCatz etc) . It supports any keyboard though.
- Can you stream .mkv files from your PC -> Xbox? Not sure, but I think it's possible
- Does it support 802.11N routers? Yes
- Is it "easy" to configure WiFi connectivity? I.E a automatic recognition of some sort would be nice. Don't know, I don't use wireless.

.. i visited Xbox.com (europe) while writing this. It says that as a Gold Member you can get the full experience, chat with more then one person at the same time? As in voice chat, (ventrilo style)? Also, is this restricted to just one person with Silver? It also said that i can enjoy multiplayer, this isnt available with Silver?

@Crashdown77 - yeah i'd prefer a black one, but if the Arcade only comes in gray, no problem. Still not sure though what the difference is between Arcade and Elite, besides the colour and the HDD?

Can somebody answer this? I'm really curious myself

if you have a ps3 then why are you getting a 360 cause most games are the same.. save the money and buy some games or buy a wii...

just my opinion

The console itself is no different at all. Only the accesories that come with it. Though the newest arcade come with 512MB built in memory, because it comes with no hard disk. The Elite however comes with a hard disk and so there's no need for the internal 512MB. Other than that, they're exactly the same.

Umm. . . why didn't what I typed show up?
Anyways, Color, HDD, and right now the Elite comes bundled with Halo 3 and Fable 2, an HDMI cable and the headset is black too. Not worth it content wise if you don't want those games (but give Halo 3 a try before you hate on it, unless you already have). I personally have a red Resident Evil 5 elite, which is so sweet looking.

"[...]Like i said, it will first and foremost be used to preview games that one might not feel like buying, but that still might be worth a playthrough on a rainy day, like The force unleashed, Assassins Creed 2, Fallout 3, Skate, Prototype, Lego games, Brothers in Arms etc.."

Im hacking it so that i can download games that i dont feel warrant a full price purchase.

The Wii unfortunately has nothing im interested in.

So the Elite costs 100$ more (150$ in sweden), and you get a bigger HDD and a Headset? Thats it?! Well then, that settles it.. an arcade it is.

If you hack the machine you dont want to use the online component or your system will be banned from XBL, so you dont need a wifi adapter. Use your PS3 for media streaming. Most of the games you want to "preview" have demos available on XBL and PSN.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.
