Forums - General - Should i go to a tanning salon?

So here's the scoop, I just recently became unemployed and figured well here's a good chance to work on my tan. One problem.... every single day the past week it's been so sunny and so warm..... great right, well not exactly, i went out everyday for too many hours and i way over did it and got sunburned. Now i have to let it heal and summer is almost over! I know I can do it I'm Portuguese and used to have a tan many years ago before i shunned the sun.

Should i go to a tanning salon and do it there gradually over the winter so that i'll be ready for next summer? I just feel weird about it because i'm a dude.

Na. orange just doesn't look right on a guy.

If you're unemployed, shouldn't your money be spent on better things?

After the recent news that using tanning beds significantly increases a person's chance of developing skin cancer, you still want to use one? If having a darker skin tone is what you desire, I recommend a sunless tan. Specifically, a sunless tan that is caused by a DHA-based product. You can have a tan in the winter without the risks associated with tanning beds.

I'm with Jackson........skin cancer is a serious thing. Increasing the risks of contracting it by going to a tanning salon isn't worth it in my mind.

And also, how did you associate unemployment with obtaining a tan?

If you lost your job, going to a tanning salon sounds like the dumbest thing ever unless you're a model or something so getting a tan will increase the jobs coming at you.

I don't know what the TOS for this sight is so i'll have to watch my words about how I address the last part.  As for the last one... LOL.  Wtf man, haha.  That's like the queerest thing i've heard in the past few days... and by queer I mean strange.  LOL, go play basketball with your shirt off or something.  Dudes going to a tanning salon is just 100% queer where i'm from.  Once again, by queer I mean strange.  I don't know a single guy who isn't queer that goes to a tanning salon.  Once again, by queer I mean strange.

Anyways, sunburn has always been odd to me.  I have the genetics to where the sun is my friend.  It warms me up and I can bask in it's presence.  It's the single greatest source of energy in our neck of the universe and I can enjoy it in all of it's glory.  It's always been funny to me that for many, the sun is their enemy and it will do them grave harm and injury every chance it gets.

ha ha dude you worrie about the wrong things man...

my god never thought there were straight dude's feeling bad about  not having a tan..

I don't quite see the logic that commands that straight guys don't care about that.
Unless there is some deciding statistic that shows that women pay no attention to looks, including tan, while gay guys do.

I's also a matter of how you yourself want to look, personally I wouldn't want to be tanned so I'm quite happy to shun the sun. I also get sunburnt but the solution to that isn't being prepared from the solar salon, it's called sunscreen (fully blocking or bronzing effect, whichever floats your boat).
