No such thing as negative acceleration. The closest thing of accomplishing that feat would be staying completely still. Not even a twich.

Ok I think this is geeting a little pedantic. The rate at which an object loses speed can be measured as deceleration. Hence in Forza 3, the game will cause your car to decelerate (slow down at a rate of 'x' m/s at any given time) when it needs to.

Negative. Acceleration is the change of velocity. So slowing down is acceleration. changing lanes at the same speed is acceleration.

Yes you're correct but deceleration is a commonly (and scientifically) accepted term for acceleration when a change in linear velocity is negative (i.e an object is slowing down).

EDIT: I also think we're a little off topic now

In common speech, the term acceleration commonly is used for an increase in speed (the magnitude of velocity); a decrease in speed is called deceleration.

We are not writing a MIT thesis so who cares.....

Talk about unrealistic. 4th gear into a wall.... and it still drives.

Oh I get it, you must be BLIND.... Did you not read the damage option set to "COSMETIC" before the start of the race?

I can think of a few people who'd care.

LOL. Yeah, deceleration is a word. A quick look in the dictionary would have shown that.

I didn't realize we were on a physics board all of sudden, stop derailing the thread.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Seriously, in a gaming forum? I'm a scientist and get annoyed with some common public misconceptions but deceleration is even used in scientific journals.

I played it on Gamescom, its much better then Forza 2, but its never a Graphic King.

Yeah... a word is added in a dictionary if it is just used. "To decide which words to include in the dictionary and to determine what they mean, Merriam-Webster editors study the language as it's used. They carefully monitor which words people use most often and how they use them." So, just because people say something doesn't make it right. I mean... bling is now a word. That's like saying Roar and Meow is a word.

Stop trolling!  The autobrake is just a fucking feature for noobs, they are only putting stuff like that in so more people buy their game.  There is nothing wrong with having noob features for people who aren't very good at these games.  When you use these modes of course its not gonna be realistic, but when you turn all the assists off its gonna be pretty damn realistic....
