I don't mind that they release several games a year. The part that pisses me off is that the DLC that you buy will not be interchangeable. So lets say you go out and buy Guitar Hero 5 and already own World Tour, the music you bought for WT will not work with 5. What a crock of BS....

I think it will work. At least that's what I understood...

Not according to this http://kotaku.com/5343301/guitar-hero-5-dlc-incompatible-with-world-tour

So, what I understand:

- You can't use GH5 DLC in GH:WT
- If you have downloaded songs for GH:WT, you won't be able to use it in GH5 (at least, not for free)
- GH:WT DLC will be modified so it can be downloaded (for the full price of a song) for GH5.

So basically, if you own WT, you're screwed with your DLC.
If you don't, you'll have a huge catalog of DLC songs when GH5 will be out.

Am I right?

They will know Helgan belongs to Helghasts

These games due tend to sell OK or better, though. Look at how poorly the Rock Band track packs sell :)

whats' the difference between Band Hero and GH5?

Band Hero's tracklist is going to target popular music, more modern tracks, and lighter, family friendly songs. In other words, more No Doubt and Fall Out Boy and less Metallica and death metal. The difficulty is going to get a lift to be easier also but I don't see the point in that.

Regarding your previous reply to me, that doesn't make it cashing in. It's a different team tackling a brand new idea that is far removed from Guitar Hero. Anyone that has looked up the game would know this. Everyone that has played it has already commented that your Guitar Hero skills will not come in handy, and you'll have a new set of learning curve to overcome. To me, it's a totally different experience. To those of you that think people that enjoy DJing are the same people that enjoy rock music, stop lumping everyone into one group.

No one is saying it's not  a different game geared towards a different consumer.  It's the fact that they use "(insert word) Hero" puts it in the same franchise.  If they were not trying to milk the franchise they would've called it something else.  Activision is using the success of GH to sell a different game by lumping it into the "____ Hero" franchise, how is that not cashing in?

Mmmh ...

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

GH5 will import all of GHWT DLC for free, there are a few songs that will not make it.  Starting next week all DLC that comes out will only work for GH5 they stop supporting GHWT.  For a fee you will be able to import GHWT and some time after GHSH in GH5.  They have not given a full list of song that will make it over yet.

To answer the thread topic.. No.

They are actually doing it very quickly :)

While you're spot on with your logic, you just can't fault people for thinking that it's all the same kinda thing. Yea guitars are different to turntables, but one was spawned directly from the other in this gaming industry, and given the fact that everyone was sensing the milking of the Guitar Hero franchise before the spin-offs came, it just accentuated their belief. So yea, it's different when it gets to core gameplay, but I can't fault someone for seeing it's the the 'same kinda thing', playing a fake music instrument in accordance to colors on the screen.

Yes, there is such a thing as over exposure.

The CEO of Acti/Blizz wants to create more and charge $70 a game but if the demand is there it will sell. I do think this is a tad bit of overkill as it will lead to crappy quality in the long run with burned out dev teams.
